So maybe Vucevic and Rubio to replace Horford and Kyrie?
that's the saddest English language sentence I have ever seen

I think Bryant (3 years $12-13 per) may fit better at 1/2 cost.
Use remaining money on a pg who can help maximize talent (Rubio)

I don’t think you should sign Bryant to more than half that number.

I'd be fine with Vooch, though he's a bit old for the J&J timeline.

I would only want to sign him if it's a deal that is a good bargain.  So if he wants max or near max money, forget it.

But I'd give him the 4 years / $100 million Horford wants.

Vooch has been a productive scorer and rebounder for 6-7 years now.

Issues with Vooch are that he hasn't really developed a 3 point shot until just last season.  Also he doesn't get to the free throw line.  His overall scoring efficiency is pretty weak for a big man.

I would be surprised if he doesn't get stronger offers from Orlando or someone else.

Vooch isn't going to solve the Celts defensive issues without Horford, either.

But if he's an asset, then fine.

  • Let's Go Celtics!
We are going to suck so bad lol

Nah... you didn't hear? The Super Jays and Jesus "Gordon Hayward" Christ are going to carry us to 50+ wins. Tatum's gonna average 25, Brown is gonna thrown in 20 at least, and Gordon is going to be better than he was in Utah.

2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

If the Celtics go out and pay Vucevic big money instead of just giving Horford a 4th year I’m going to be very cross.

We bet on Al after only one season of shooting threes.  He had a better defensive season outside of blocks than Al.  His shooting splits are fairly good.  Gives room for the young guys to score as well as Hayward.

Idk but it seems like he checks off all the boxes and we don't have to pay an aging Al.

Vucevic is a perfect CBS center. I'd be delighted if they signed him.

Vucevic is very much a Brad Stevens type of center. I can see this happening.

I didn’t realize he averaged 3.8 assists last year. I could definitely see him being a guy they want to put next to the Jays.

That said he is almost 29... why not just pay Horford?

I'll be displeased if we sign such an underwhelming player to a big contract. Bad idea.

Would Orlando match him if Boston offered him a max deal?

1) We can’t offer him a max deal
2) He’s an unrestricted free agent, so they only get to match if he wants to give them the right of first refusal.

In 4 years, AL will be 37 and Vucevic will be 33.

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
If we sign Vuvecic, I'll be very upset.

He's good, but he doesn't make us a contender, and not to mention he doesn't fit our timeline. We still need a competent 4.

I would rather swing for the fences with Cousins, or get Adams from OKC.

29 is very different than 33.  A Vucevic signing is would be very much like the Horford deal from 3 years ago.  As others have mentioned, he checks off a lot of boxes that Stevens likes in a big man.  I also didn't realize how impressive his defensive advanced stats were last season.

We lose a lot of defensive versatility on defense with Horford, but maybe the elite rebounding from Vucevic would make up for it.  A defensive backcourt of Smart and Brown should also ease some pressure for our interior defenders.
