TP for the fantastic info, copy and pasted it into reddit.

It's crazy that if we were the 1st seed, Kyrie could've certainly been in the MVP conversation. I think Harden takes it though.

It's crazy to think that Kyrie is only 26.

It's even crazier to think, that Kyrie won his first championship a year before Curry did.

Does this mean that next season Kyrie will average close to Steph's numbers from 15/16?

Steph - 30.1 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 6.7 apg, .504/.454/.908

Ya, but the difference is that the advanced metrics favor Steph by quite a bit. Steph had a BPM of 12.5 and a VORP of 9.8 Kyrie has a BPM of 7.4 and a VORP of 3.5. Steph has a Win Share per 48 of .288 and Kyrie is at .224. Steph also had a higher assist percentage at 38.6 vs 36.1, and a higher TS% at 63.8% vs 0.5%. Steph lead the league that year in ESPN's real plus minus at over 9. Kyrie is at about 5.4.

Kyrie is a reallly good player just not as good as the cited statistical compairosn may suggest.

I remember suggesting, shortly after the trade, that Kyrie's ceiling under Stevens would be 2015-16 Steph Curry efficiency on lower volume.  After seeing him for a year and half I'm not sure he will ever hit the three ball at 45%+.  Other than that he will continue to grow.

Kyrie's distinct advantage over Curry is his ability to close in the final few minutes of a game.  Curry has the greater overall impact, but I would easily take Kyrie with 2 minutes left in a tie game.

I don't think that is how VORP works

Kyrie Irving should be 4th in consideration for MVP right now, behind Harden, Giannis, and George. He might have passed George recently, or he might soon.

If Harden wears down through the end of this season (something I expect, if not now then in the playoffs), and the Cs continue to win with Kyrie's high efficiency and assist numbers, he absolutely deserves to be considered.

Steph gets more open looks than Kyrie which skews his 3 point percentage. This is because he plays with better teammates.

I agree, Curry is the better player.

But I've been impressed by Kyrie's growth this season and looking at these numbers feels pretty great. If Kyrie can stya focused and keep growing, we might not have seen his best basketball.
