1.  Knicks still kept their 2018 pick.  Which still gives them a high chance to draft Zion, who then can be flipped with Knox or Smith Jr. for Davis

2.  Knicks will have enough money coming off their books for next season to sign 2 max type deals.  They seem like are already preparing/taking aim to attract two of Leonard, Durant, Irving, Butler (the heavyweight FAs)

3.  Durant apparently bought a condo in NYC recently (within 12 months)... maybe the Knicks feel like this gives them an edge to sign him

4.  Knicks can try to setup Spike Lee to work with/help Irving film career

Danny should take the Knicks "ambition" seriously

I want the Celts to keep Tatum.... but lets say the scenerio is that

Irving will not commit to signing an extension unless Danny gives into what the Pelicans want..... in order to obtain Davis

If Danny doesn't promise he will do this/have a deal in place....then I don't think Irving will sign an extension

I hate to cherry pick, but even with the worst record, the Knicks only have a 14% chance at landing #1. And NOP better value Tatum over Zion or it is all for nothing. The Knicks are literally banking on a 14% at having any opportunity whatsoever.

But I do totally agree with you that Danny should take their ambition seriously. I believe the only way Kyrie even considers leaving Boston is to go to NYK with AD. I do not think it is in any way likely, but it would be a real bummer if we didn't get AD and we lost Kyrie. Best to just acquire AD ourselves  ;D
