I'm not a great fan of NBA awards, but this one looks like a done deal already.
Kings guard De'Aaron Fox, turned 21 last week, has been impressive this year.
He reminds me how I fell in love with John Wall years back, but Fox might just be everything I hoped John would become.
The speed and acceleration, hustle plays, playmaking, great confidence, and developed shooting.

Once John got paid he fell of defensively, then an injury here and there came, also his outside shoot never came to a respectable level.
Fox looks like he won't have the same faith. His hunger looks like it is here to stay.

What are his improvements?
Increased 3pt attempt rate by 4% (.231), taking off the dribble ones more
3PT accuracy by 10% (.412),
FT rate by 18,5% (.430),
True shooting by 9% (.568),

PG position takes time to master, but his year 2 leap is very encouraging. He could very well be a top 10 PG.
And yeah the Kings are at 18-15 and he is their dynamo (2nd fastest pace in the league) and their best player.

Bonus: Nice eraser at 0:24

Perhaps Pascal Siakam and Domantas Sabonis are also in the conversation.
'I was proud of Marcus Smart. He did a great job of keeping us together. He might not get credit for this game, but the pace that he played at, and his playcalling, some of the plays that he called were great. We obviously have to rely on him, so I’m definitely looking forward to Marcus leading this team in that role.' - Jaylen Brown, January 2021

He’s definitely the front runner, but the guys listed above + Montrezl Harrell are definitely in the mix.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

I always have a hard time giving that award to a 2nd year player as most players take pretty decent jumps from year 1 to year 2.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

i liked fox going into the draft last year. excellent athelete. the question was his shooting, which seems to have worked out.

but best of all, he owns lonzo, a laker.  ;D

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I think he's going to turn out like John Wall should have..certainly seems like he has an award winning attitude. too bad his teams having success at the expense of the Celts though.

Yep I like the John Wall comparison, seems like he has the Donovan Mitchell attitude.
