It's a reasonable age for retirement for NBA players. He's got another 6-8 years to go. Most players who continue on past 35 look like D-leaguers.

I agree. Aside from a few great centers or like Karl Malone. Players are role players past mid 30s at best

Has anyone except Kevin Johnson ever followed through on these types of statements?
"The joy of the balling under the rims."

Good.

Plenty of time for him to help the team put 2-3 banners up in the rafters.

Earn your jersey hanging in the rafters, Little Mountain.

Doesn't it depend on what he means by early to mid 30's?  I mean is that 32.  that seems pretty young to call it career.

The real problem I have is all of the other stuff he said.  It just comes like he is an entitled whiny brat who is upset that everything didn't go perfectly his way even though it mostly did.  Just not a good look.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Absolutely nobody.  And KJ eventually made a comeback.  The statement means nothing.

Retiring in his early 30's - OMG what's the world coming to?  Not sure why this is even a news story.

He'll be 32 after the 5 year Max contract he's likely to get.  He should have all the money he'll ever need.  Why put yourself through all it takes to make it through a grueling 82 game NBA season?  Get out while you're young and reasonably healthy.

I don't know.  Tons of musicians say the same type of stuff.  They love the actual shows but hate everything that goes with it- the life on the road.  That being said, it seems like 95% of the players say they want to retire in their early to mid 30's.  I don't even know why this is news.  Most players play until the wheels fall off or they are an embarrassing shell of what they once were.
