#1 is kind of ridiculous. The team was never affected by Hayward or Kyrie not being on the bench to cheer on the team. And Kyrie had surgery on the day of game seven that was scheduled way before anyone thought the Celtics would be playing a game 7 of the ECF. Cancelling the surgery most likely would have meant Kyrie rescheduling it much closer to the start of the 2018-19 season and affected his ability to get as ready as he was for this season.

#2 Yeah all the young guys are struggling to fit in new roles where they aren't emphasized as much. You're 100% on there. Yes, it could be ego, but I don't think it's that. I think it's more those three players were playing roles last year that they have been playing their whole lives and so excelled in them. They just aren't used to maximizing their games in much more limited roles.

1. Irving and Hayward missing a bunch of games and not fully supporting team....Irving missing game 7 ?? *facepalm*

2. Tatum, Brown, Rozier taking a backseat though knowing they ECF type talents

Last season even with Hayward went down, team  started hot.  So what has exactly changed?

You can see poor body language all over the place out of the floor

Pride is definitely a factor for guys like Rozier and Jaylen.  This is where you wish there was a bit of self awareness.  The competition is MUCH deeper throughout the Conference.

Pride = I think is working the other way too. Vets who feel they are the star (Kyrie) and want the young guys in their place like the way were last year as role players.

I’m curious about this...what have you seen from the likes of Kyrie and Gordon to suggest that they want to put the young guys in their place? Because from what I see Hayward has gone out of his way to pass the ball instead of shoot, even when he is under the basket, and Kyrie earlier in the season had a game where he scored 3 points because he was just passing the ball and his assists have been up particularly in the past 10 games or so. Have I missed the body language where they want to put the younger guys in their place?

Not Hayward. Kyrie, yes.

It was more his comments. The "15 year vet" stuff. That rubbed me the wrong way.

His general play = Kyrie wants to play how he wants to play and he wants everyone else to fall in line behind him. Like LeBron led in Cleveland. It is up to everyone else to find their role working off of him. Kyrie doesn't adapt to them. They adapt to Kyrie. Again, like LeBron led. I don't think that is good for this team (leadership wise or style of play - and I don't think Kyrie has the talent to demand that like LeBron does either).

Who exactly are Brown and Tatum taking backseats to?  They both start and Hayward was relegated to the bench.

If anyone has taken a backseat, it is Rozier, and I all think we can agree that Kyrie is the superior player there.
