I'm assuming he just needs a scope around the kneecap.  This type of surgery can wait until the off-season and is typically a 6 week recovery at worst. 

As for Kyrie's demands to sit out, this once again falls back on LeBron if true.  Lebron created a toxic environment so I don't blame Kyrie for playing hardball.  These are the types of things that exist within fractured organizations.

This rumor smells fishy.

I think it's just cleveland trying to do damage control after the trade looks lopsided in hindsight now.
