The first 16 games of the season we were number 1 in defensive rebounding.
The last 15 games we are last in the league.
Will someone ask Brad why he stopped the guys from going to the boards?

The first 16 games was a fluke.  This team is small and lacks elite rebounders.  It was never going to be a top tier rebounding team.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

But first to last over those relatively decent sample sizes isn't just regression.

Boston was one of the worst rebounding teams last year, and got smaller with crappier rebounders.  Boston being ranked 1st was a fluke.  It wasn't reality.  Boston is a bad rebounding team, period.

How did the Celtics get smaller?

The highlighted isn't really true. Baynes and Theis are a distinct rebounding upgrade over Olynyk and Amir. Having Brown in the starting lineup also made us considerably bigger.
