Shouldn't  Baynes  have started and played more
The teams free throw shooting has been off lately-no excuse for that
Drummond has been hitting his foul shots this year in hindsight a mistake using the hack.
Avery played a helluva game and frustrated Kyrie just enough
Maybe a bit more involvement for Jayson
Something just wasn't there last night maybe Avery's play is inspirational

It seems to me that the winning formula for the Celtics is pretty obvious. If they move the ball and make the extra pass, they get great looks. When they try to play "hero" ball and spend too much time in isolation situations, they aren't very good offensively. That concept is important at any level of basketball, but this year they have proved it to be crucial.

With that being said, in the NBA you are a great team if you win 3/4 of your games. We have been spoiled as Celtics fans by this hot early start. The schedule may be starting to catch up to them and they will lose a few games here and there that they shouldn't.

I was as disappointed as anyone with last night's loss, but taking a step back it was clear to me that Detroit played great basketball and exposed some of our weaknesses. Can't wait for the rematch on December 10!

It was almost like they have played more games than anyone in the NBA and finished 3 games in 4 nights and lost their second best offensive player to injury and have a roster full of young inconsistent players who are learning how to bring it each night.

On top of that, the Pistons were hungry.

Don't make too much of this loss. The Pistons are a good team and played a great game tonight. Drummond and Harris were fantastic, especially Harris who couldn't miss. Give them credit. The Celtics on the other hand have played a ton of games to start the season and are probably gassed.

In other words, the Celtics lost a close game at home to a good team that played very well. Can't win them all.

Ugly, ugly, game. Waaaay too many turnovers and basically a total collapse down the stretch. Avery Bradley was first team all defense last night. Totally smothering the ball just as he did when he was a Celtic. If Drummond continues to hit FT in the 60-70% range he is a major force. Tobias Harris is underrated and still improving. Now 48% from three and 92% FT shooter. Tatum somewhat disappeared but I think it was clearly Kyrie's worst game. He was forcing it and just not alot there. To beat a team like Detroit you have to play clean and make FT.

it was a frustrating game:
C's:
- missed FTs finally ended up biting them in the butt.  make half of what they missed and it would have been a very different game down the stretch.  no excuse for how awful we've been this year.
- TO's --> a mess.  a careless mess.  if you're making a lot more than you're getting from the other team, you're just digging yourself a serious hole.
- missed makeable shots.  C's had plenty of open looks they missed.  it happens.  unfortunately we're seeing that a lot more often with this team that the middle of games (if not the beginning as well) they are just cold as ice.
- rebounds.  easily our worst rebounding effort of the season.  a lot more offensive rebounds given up that resulted in Detroit baskets.  in prior games we were keeping the opposition to 1-and-done on offense which helped keep us in games.  last night was like having KO, JJ and Amir back on the team under our boards.

Detroit:
-great shooting.  Harris and AB had excellent offensive games.  AB looks to have yet again added another improvement to his overall game by developing a more consistent drive to the basket and the ability to actually be a playmaker without turning the ball over continuously.
-rebounding. Drummond's a force underneath.  we couldn't keep him off our defensive boards.

I'm noticing that the interior defense is lacking...probably because of Baynes not starting.

I'm seeing many more second shots and layups and not much resistance at the rim.

I noticed the severe lack of interior defense as well. Way too many lay ups last night. C's just seemed a step slow.
