Isaiah gifted the Celtics with an incredible season while Kyrie had been an all star since he was a number one draftee. The Celtics have had some great guards but i without knowing it have minimized Kyrie, taken his skills for granted therefore underrating him while watching the kids or watching the sublime Horford.
Kyrie quite quietly has become center stage for me as replays of his moves in slow motion are just mesmerizing, even the opposition watches!!!
The Celtics now have all star point guard again-there is only one isaiah and there is one Kyrie now a Celtic embracing the kids.
.Wow!!! how fortunate to have Danny and Brad and Celtic history

He was just out of his mind last night. 3 or 4 highlight reel plays. He shot very well, especially considering a few of his misses were when the shot clock was running out and he had to shoot.

He rarely takes a bad shot.

I initially didn't like the trade because of the BRK pick, but if they keep playing like they are, it's a moot point anyway, that pick won't be as valuable as most had assumed.

Tatum and Brown are only going to get better to go along with Kylie, and getting Hayward back will be like a Christmas present whenever that happens. This team's going to be a force to be reckoned with over the next couple of years.

I made a post over the offseason showing the best highlight clips of Kyrie and IT, and I said it at the time, if you've played organized basketball at a high level or even ever watched game film to scout top opponents you can see from YouTube clips that Kyrie is just better than IT.

I love IT.  Always will.  But he scored so much off picks and screens, trickery to get him open, and his finishing was elite in terms of efficiency but not in terms of variety of moves to get a shot off.

Kyrie and Curry look like the most skilled guards in the NBA to me.  Kyrie can hit 3's off the dribble that IT would never be able to get over a defender's arms.  When Kyrie gets in the paint, he can hit shots off the glass at any height or angle, he can hit floaters from any angle, he uses the rim as well as anyone, he can stop and pop, etc.  He routinely hits shots where the difficulty is a 10 and if anyone else shot it, you'd be mad at them for not passing.

The fact that Kyrie has 7-10 assists in 3 of his first 5 games is icing on the cake.  I don't remember IT having 7+ assists in 3 of 5 games at any point last year, and Kyrie is just starting to get a feel for his teammates, who are also just starting to literally know what the plays are so they can get quality looks.  Soon his 7 assist games should be 8 assist games, and then he should be averaging 7+ assists per game.

I also saw him D up Giannis for a few possessions last night, block a guy 6" taller than him, and try hard on D all year.  He's averaging 2.2 steals per game.  5 games into his Celtics career, he is light years better on defense than IT ever has been or will be.

So yeah, we have to be patient... But I'm very excited about the Kyrie era.  Very, very excited.

I thought the same thing too to be honest, but actually in his first 5 games of last year he went:

25 points, 8 assists
25 points, 4 assists
24 points, 7 assists
23 points, 10 assists
30 points, 6 assists

Edit: Didn't finish my post. But yeah I'm really amped for Kyrie era, I hope he sticks around. Reports were they felt they had a good shot at retaining Kyrie for his next contract, hopefully that's the case.

Kyrie is legitimately making the Celtics look cool. When I was in middle school and high school, I'd get clowned for liking a team with such an old core who's best player was popular for having an old man game. Not anymore, he's got popularity, an enormous following, etc.

Hopefully he sticks!
