No... we the west was significantly ahead of the east in head to head play. The 9th and 10th seeded Denver and Clippers teams almost surely would have made the playoffs in the east. The clippers are a pretty good example of this. They were 4 games under .500 versus the west. They were 6 games over .500 versus the east. That sums it up pretty good. Not particularly close.

The West is deeper. The Nuggets missed the playoffs and I think they're a better and more talented team than Milwaukee, Miami, Indiana, Washington.
