Yeah, but in terms of leading a team, IT stands taller.

Kyrie hasn't proven he can be an alpha that can lead a team to the ECF and beyond. IT has.

Kyries hasn't had the opportunity to do that, unless you count a 22 year old kyrie on a really bad team.

IT was a very good Player here but IT hasn't done sh!t !

Is IT considered a Top 10 player in this League?

You slurpers don't like this deal because the Nets pick was involved.

You dumped an injured undersized player for an All-Star who can bang on the boards AND lure more talented Players in free agency or by trade..
Game Set Match
Kyrie can bang on the boards?? Are we talking about the same player?
CB Mock Deadline - Minnesota Timberwolves
Kemba Walker / Tyus Jones / Aaron Brooks
Jimmy Butler / Jamal Crawford / Treveon Graham
Rodney Hood / Nic Batum / Marcus Georges Hunt
Taj Gibson / Nemanja Bjelica / Jonas Jerebko
KAT / Derrick Favors / Cole Aldrich
Picks - 2018 CHA 1st (Lotto protected), none out

Celtics can not sign any more big name FA's due to cap constraints, and no one has control over where they get traded to unless they have a NTC.

And by bang on the boards do you mean rebound or drive to the glass constantly? I hope you mean the latter lol because the former will ultimately disappoint you.

Fair point. But that makes it valid to have some doubts about this trade.

Ultimately Kyrie will have to distribute the ball better and at least show some effort on defense (be average and not a pure liability).

This is the wrong comparison. The comparison should be Kyrie vs whoever the Brooklyn 2018 pick turns out to be, because that was the crux of the deal. IT may not even play this season, and I don't see the Cavs re-signing him.

They're very similar. IT pounds the ball a little less and gets to the line more.  IT moves better without the ball and has effectively run a motion offense; Kyrie is more used to "taking turns". Both are extremely good and efficient in isolation.

Kyrie is more accurate from outside; IT takes more threes. Defensively, both are terrible. IT's poor defense is driven by his height; Kyrie's by poor instincts and little effort.

Irving has had the fortune to be mentored by LeBron. He said he wants the keys to the car... well he now has them, lets see what he does with them.

Plus I'm sure this Celtic team will find several voices. Smart can fill that roll well on that second unit too.

Yeah, but in terms of leading a team, IT stands taller.

Kyrie hasn't proven he can be an alpha that can lead a team to the ECF and beyond. IT has.

But what about before IT came to the Celtics? He didn't really light the world on fire until his first full year here. He does have that winning mentality, but it's hard to put everything down on two seasons. And age comes into the factor. When you hit your mid 20's things start to click differently. Very few players really mature until after 25. Look a Jordan, until he grew up and decided to trust his teamates, he didn't win. And how much of last year was Horford?

So with Irving he had two years with out Lebron and he was young and was looking at getting his. Yes he didn't excel when Lerbon didn't play, but it could be part of him not trusting his teammates, and out side of Love, who can get buckets on a regular bases? Plus there was no one making him responsible for defense.

So you can keep in mind Irving is getting to the age were IT learned to lead. And I'm not going to say he's going to be that alpha leader, he's just getting to the age were he can really become one.

I also don't think he's necessarily be 100% alpha. He can do it on the floor and lead the charge and take over games, but I'm not sure about lockeroom stuff and holding guys responsible. Looking at this team, I actually see a collective of mini Alphas.

Horford and Hayward, the lockeroom leaders

Smart and Horford the defensive leaders. Brown and Baynes co-leaders

Smart and Brown young guy leaders

Irving and Hayward the offensive leaders

I think this is what Irving was talking about when he said he wanted to play for Boston. It wasn't one guy and their way. This is more of a team he's coming too than there was one the Cavs were it was one guys way and thats it.

So to say Irving hasn't lead anything, isn't really fare. At times he was the best player on the floor and kept LEbron from going home. But it's also fare to say he wont be that alpha, some guys just aren't, but on this team it might be okay if he isn't were I see Hayward and Horford being more leaders, but Irving running the offense. If that makes sense.
