I refuse to believe Gordon is just as excited to be playing with Kyrie. Tell me I'm crazy.

Hayward and Irving have a history, Irving recruited Hayward before Lebron came back. Irving has gone on record saying Hayward is a player he'd love to play with, you have to assume that's not a one way thing.

Even if Kyrie does believe the earth is flat, he'd rank about 800th on this site in terms of conspiracy theorists.

They will both be fine.

This is going to be a great season - all the way up until June AND the draft.

Fun times ahead.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I can't watch the video right now, but even if this was a surprise for Hayward, I can't imagine he is devastated. Kyrie is currently able to start the season healthy, he is younger, has more potential to improve (as a four-time all star), and has had considerable more success at 25 than IT at 28.

IT may have been more 'fun' to play with for Hayward, but the Celtics' ceiling just went up with this trade and if Hayward's ultimate goal is to win a championship, then he should be ecstatic that Danny is still trying to improve the team even after his [Hayward's) signing.

They also appeared to have solid camaraderie during the press conference. I can't imagine this is a legitimate concern, unless Hayward genuinely dislikes Kyrie as a person - which seems doubtful.

It is not possible to know what's going on inside his head, but I seriously doubt he has any problem playing with Kyrie. If for no other reason, Kyrie is healthy and ready to go from day one, IT may miss serious time.

You're crazy.

I think it's a delicate situation. IT was at the forefront of recruiting Hayward to Boston and I think all parties are trying to as respectful of IT's departure as possible. Also, I'm pretty sure Danny flat out said here that he didn't consult with Gordon's agent.

Hayward seems like the type of person to me that can't genuinely dislike anyone.  Even awful people, he just seems like the type of person that is willing to give anyone and everyone a chance and think the best of.

Kyrie is also very well liked and respected around the league. I've seen several reports (sorry I don't have the links) that said players have a very high opinion of Kyrie, much more so than the media.
