With hand check not being allowed the point guard position has radically changed and a emphasis on having great wings that are versatile. The three point shot now dominates and has altered the big man landscape. At least you can sill bang down low a few minutes a game.
Us old timers might have trouble grasping what danny and brad are assembling and misjudging the whole package.
Sifting through the draft looking for a draymond green or kwani with that fire that eclipses the center position. The ability to switch and shoot that spreads the floor is a must in today's game for bigs. What a bonus when your big has court vision.
Horford is perfect with kyrie, hayward, marcus morris and jaylen/jason.

Semi has some other worldly athleticism, can hit from outside with defensive DNA paired with lane agility and vertical. One video analysis calls him the terminator and steal of draft
Yabusele also has a skill level with a unique physical attributes.
We still have MARCUS and rozier that have that down and dirty defensive fire that crowder inspired but bradley the pickpocket is irreplaceable
AND then there is Brad the ultimate mixologist that can construct and take advantage of this collection
I guess the only thing missing is THAT draft pick

By not drafting Fultz, it seemed danny was committed to isaiah and possibly a smaller Brinks truck but a brinks truck.
Did Danny so not like Fultz? That he was unwilling to draft him even knowing that Isaiah problems might lie ahead or was Tatum that good?
Did Tatum really demand a one spot and Danny got an extra pick and that tipped the scale?
With Kyrie becoming available and Isaiah timing questionable-Danny got lucky again
He had to get Kyrie or risk the season with injured Isaiah and Avery also gone.
Isaiahs lingering hip made the trade and loss of draft pick more palatable and any potential friction with Hayward from Crowder was removed.
Danny is lucky!!!! He got a young star in prime with a Boston and Duke connections, got another star in prime that played for Brad and lost a couple of potential problems for a draft pick from improving Nets
BUT HE GOT A POTENTIAL IN LA'S pick as well as Tatum a Duke guy

Marcus Morris seems to slot right in and plays Lebron well.
Baynes  is a big tough body

Morale must be pretty low over at Cleveland with Lebron situation also effecting Love
Who will be playing point guard?

There are a lot of intangibles things not to like Fultz.  Yes, he is productive and scores but watch some games of his and look past the stats and therein the answer lies.  I also heard that Fultz shot poorly in our workout.

Does Ainge still use the Brain Typing?

http://braintypes.com/what-is-brain-typing/

Perhaps he did not like his type.  But this stuff is not scientific so use caution and I have not read about us using it for a few years.

rollie that's an interesting point to bring up.

i remember when Ainge decided not to go for Fultz many  in the forums thought it was bcs he really liked IT and that he would certainly offer him a max. Funny how quickly these things change.

With hindsight, it seems like he simply didn't like Fultz (and Ball) all that much; or that at the very least he did not see much separation between the three.

Another thing to consider is that Tatum seems down to earth while Fultz often exposed an attitude of the "I'm the next great start" kind.

I get what you're saying rollie, but I actually disagree with regards to the mythical center that switches everything and shoot, believe it or not we had two of the best at that  last season with KO and Horford but we still had an undeniable size issue.

For some reason people normally make reference to Draymond as a prototypical  floor spacing big, he really isn't... even his coach hates when he shoots the 3. His average is atrocious.

The Celtics in my opinion need an old school big to complete this roster. If you look at how  the Warriors have fits dealing with a Boogie or Drummond, I'm actually shocked every contender is still trying to "match up" instead of dictating that positional match up. If you force GS to keep Green as a 4, you prevent lineups that will run you out of the gym like steph, Klay, Draymond, KD and Iggy. At the 4,  Green is far less special and I would compare him to Smart at the point... and we know the double edged sword that can be.

I want us to sign a traditional, athletic big... the floor for my dream is Greg Munroe the ceiling Boogie... with a friendly personality

Yup.  I never liked Fultz, his interview showed a guy who seemed to lack confidence in spite of his claim as deserving of #1 pick.  Great scorer, yes.  Beyond that, not sure.  It will be interesting to watch his career.  DA is a great judge of character.
