we need some depth, he's signing here to retire, he can easily play that small 4, we don't need him to play big mins., we could use some quality vets.

He is no longer "quality."  Did you get a chance to see him much last season?  Check his stats also.

Sentimental drivel that makes no basketball sense.   I hope PP is with our organization in some capacity but not as a player.   He can't bring what we need to the table anymore.

I brought this up a while back. Hoping he could fill a very limited minutes role ala PJ Brown. I think we all would agree that his court leadership and wisdom would be priceless. Apparently he doesn't have enough in the tank or he just wants to retire. Too bad but it had to end somewhere at some time. Glad its here.

Because he's garbage now and we don't have minutes for him. We didn't even have no minutes for Crowder.. Pierce is completely cooked. He played garbage time for doc. How that that help us

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
If Pierce had no other prospects, I could see the possibility, but he is now looking to the future as an analyst (which also pays a surprising amount of money).

From the Cs point of view, we are basically starting over - with Smart as our longest tenured player. I don't think anybody would scoff at a light return with PP, but this team is prepared to create its own identity without the need for past personalities.

I am just happy he followed through and did sign with us to retire. If his analyst gig doesn't work out, I am sure the Cs will find a place for him some place within the organization.

Pierce's time is OVER.

He would only get in the way of the new blood.

Also I think Pierce will sign a contract with ESPN.

Because we need a real PF/C. Pierce isn't going to help us with our rebounding issue and even though I do understand the prospect of him mentoring the younger guys, I still feel compelled to sign a legit big man in case of Morris/Horford/Baynes getting injured.

Why not Bird?
He didn't want to trade us Paul George.
