Isaiah:

Kyrie:

Irving is actually a better three point shooter, and appears to be the more efficient player overall. But, obviously there were times last year where IT4 was the Celtics' offence. Worthy of note is that Irving has been a better 3PT shooter throughout his career - including specifically when Lebron wasn't a Cavalier.

He was  closer to the hallowed 50/40/90 club than Isaiah (fg% was just a little shy) but not by a lot.

He'll actually be the PG on this team, so I would expect his assists to go up up up. If that doesn't happen, and if the Celtics don't move the ball - I'll have a much lower opinion of this trade than I do now.

Statistics are completely irrelevant in comparison. Kyrie had Lebron and Love... IT had Bradley(half year), Horford (3/4 year) and Crowder...

If you replace IT straight up for Kyrie is last years lineup he would have put up well over 30ppg and 8dimes

I think that you're going to be disappointed by Kyrie's passing.

His ability to attack the rim often draws double teams.. In BS system he will learn to pass better ... If he went to say Phoenix he would be just a scorer but the Celtics have the luxury of a great coaching staff

Kyrie isos a lot more than IT.

While IT's bad offensive habits looks similar to Kyrie's, Kryie engages in them more frequently. Hopefully he gives more effort defensively and grows his offensive potential beyond scoring. I am skeptical.  :(

I am skeptical of even the vaunted CBS getting a player who idolizes Kobe and just forced his way off of LBJs team to "be the man" is going to get that player to change his game more than at the margins.

IT had an absolutely off the charts single season last season.  He was the primary scorer on a team that did not have much other scoring, was highly efficient, and the team won.  IT was very good in the playoffs until his hip flared up so you can't really "yeah but" on him about the playoffs.

Kyrie has had a run of several excellent seasons and playoffs but it is hard to say that any single season was better than IT had last season.  So if you think that IT is going to continue to play as well as he did last season for say 3-5 more seasons, then I think it is hard to argue that Irving is any better.  If you think that Irving is about to blossom and make a leap (much like IT did around that age), then OK, Kyrie is the man.

I think more realistically, Kyrie is going to continue at his current high level, maybe with some improvement and IT is probably not going to repeat last season.  I do think that IT is going to continue to be better than people think is possible for a 5'-9" guard with a bad hip.  Both players are going to do well and both teams are going to be able to claim victory with the trade.
