I'd like to see this starting lineup from day 1:
IT
Brown
Hayward
Tatum
Horford
Give 7-11 as many minutes as possible so that they develop as fast as possible. With 3 all-star vets, it will really open the floor for them and create easier scoring opportunities.
It will also create a more experienced bench, led by Smart, Crowder, Morris and Rozier.
A lot of people on here act like this is a big deal. I'm totally with it, I mean they are both top 3 picks and The future of the franchise. If we lose a few games this year to accelerate their development so be it.
Remember just because you start then don't mean either one of them plays crunch time.
You also need to remember that just because you don't start them it doesn't mean they don't get any minutes or developmental time.
Starting in the NBA is a big deal to players, and it should be earned, not granted. He's fifth in his position group, and no more than three of the players ahead of him will start, and maybe only two. It'd be an insult to 14 other players if he got to start Day 1, and what type of development does that teach?
Tatum is 19, and his knee got sore after 6 summer league games. Ideally he'll play 1400-1500 minutes during the regular season, and then another 300-400 in the playoffs. He's a very good player with a bright future, but there is no need to force him into a role in which he is not yet ready.
Brown, on the other hand, is a plausible starter. I don't think he will, since I think they'll start Morris or Baynes, but it's not out of the question. He's shown he's near-ready, at a minimum.
