Prior reports of $228 million included the two years left on his current contract. The Rockets have him locked up for six years.

Lots of teams are going all in. No one is going to have cap space next year. The musical chairs of the NBA is going to slow way down once everyone is capped out!

Houston has a superstar and isn't going to let him go. James wants to be there, Morey & Co. want him there, no need to drag it out or go through the free agency drama. Everyone seems to be on the same page.

That's still insane. Wow!  :o

And people here think Isaiah isn't getting a 4 year max  ::)

It's going to happen whether you people like it or not, unless his injury is a lot worse than previously stated (but they seem optimistic it's not).

$42.5m x 4 years. IT will get $35 x 4 years next year.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

Maybe not. There aren't going to be many teams with max cap room next season to bid against. And there are a lot of really good PG's in the league right now. In Zach Lowe's podcast today he actually mentioned that the Celtics might be able to get him in the $20-25 mil range, or at least they're hoping they can.

I'm betting next summer there is no other team willing/able to give Isaiah more than $24 million a year, even if he has another great season.

That's a whole lot of guaranteed money.

Not sure of the rationale behind this by Morey, they already had him signed for another two seasons.

I guess you can have an epic fail of a game 6 eliminating performance and still get the most guaranteed money in NBA history.

$47M in his final season, just wow.

True, and that can be looked at two ways.  If IT gets maxed out after next season, it's because the Celtics organization believes he is worth that.

Interesting thing, I just saw that IT was the #7 seller of NBA jerseys this season.  The only people who sold more jerseys were:

1. Steph
2. Lebron
3. KD
4. Russ
5. Kyrie
6. Kawhi

He's ahead of Harden, Giannis, Klay and Draymond, Jimmy Butler, Wall, Wade, Lillard and others.  Not bad for the little dynamo.
Play to win.  Always.
