This is great news. The future of this team is falling into place. I think Zizic is going ro be a very important asset to this team. Still looking forward to next years draft with two top 5 picks to complete a super team built through the draft.

Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum are going to be our Ferrari and Lamborghini, Ante Zizic our Souped up Hummer and Yab, Semi, Nader, our reserved cars kept in close proximity for when we need them. Its hard to say right now if Rozier, Jackson or Alllen are going to replace IT in a few years or draft a stud but i could see Ainge ask Bradley to take the hellm at PG if IT doesnt come back 100% from his injury.

The 018 draft can fill out the roster and make this team more balanced. If the Lakers pick ends up being #'s 2-5 and the Brooklyn pick being in the same range id love to see Danny pick both Bigs Ayton AND Bamba so in 3-4 years from now the roster could look like this;

PG-M. Smart/T. Rozier/D. Jackson/K. Allen
SG-J.Brown/J. Bird
SF-J.Tatum/G. Yabusele/S. Ojeleye
PF-M. Bamba/Ante Zizic
C-DeAndre Ayton/Ante Zizic

Note; Ante Zizic could be switched between C and PF very easily. With this line up, the Celtics could be a dominant beast in the east for many, many years...

Give me Ayton and Porter or Ayton and Doncic. I think Bamba is very risky

I'll be happy with Porter and Robert Williams.

I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but Ante Zizic is pretty bad right now.  He's not capable of playing Center in the NBA at a replacement level, let alone power forward.

Yeah. His two summer league performances so far have been pretty underwhelming.

Yeah...

People have been hyping him up like crazy and I've been trying to tell people - take it down a notch, lets see what he can actually do first.  Boston has a history of taking overseas players who end up being horribly mediocre, and they almost always seem to be guys who tore it up overseas before coming here.  I've learnt to remain cautious in my optimism.

That said I'm also not calling him a failure yet either.  Danny's given him a deal, which means he sees potential in him to likely contribute this year.  Olynyk and Sully looked pretty terrible early in their rookie years, I think Zizic deserves a chance to learn the NBA game, adjust to the plays, get himself into NBA condition, etc.

Once he does I'm sure he will be a solid contributor.

Not only the performances, but his athletic profile is discouraging. Zizic looks incredibly slow and heavy footed; I can't imagine him ever passing as a PF never mind making it in the league as a serviceable C. Right now, he's nothing more than a big body and some strength.

Zizic was playing against less athletic players .  He used his heigjt and size .    He is in a new world with NBA level players .....even guys IT size can get up and block your shot .....LOL

Not giving up on him yet ......hope he can do more than Mickey.

Let's see him get a training camp around Stevens and Horford and co.

I believe he can be a pretty nice backup C after getting some reps against real NBA players.

By the middle of the season we should be comfortable enough with him giving Horford a breather.

I think Zizic will be better. He looks confused by the hectic play of summer league. It's a lot more like pick up games than structured pro games. Zizic has probably never played in anything like summer league.

I'm going to hold onto this explanation as my hope. He really looks slow and surprisingly gangly - like he's still growing into his height. Maybe it's because he finds the chaos of summer league so confusing. If this is who he is on a long-term basis, it's hard to see him finding his way as a rotation big.

Did you just say he never played in a pickup game? :P

As most FIBA bigs, he will come to the realization that not being able to camp in the paint for entire possessions on defense makes the way you play entirely different. He will either figure out or he won't, and I think a lot of his success in the NBA will depend on it.

There is essentially no center or power forward in today's NBA, and certainly not in Brad's system, only 'bigs'. There is, therefore, not much point in discussing whether Zizic can be a center or power forward, only whether he can be an NBA big.

I like your enthusiasm but AB is not a point guard.  We've tried him at that position and he just doesn't have the playmaking capabilities or handle to run the Point.  Smart is a much better PG prospect.

I hope if we trade someone out of AB, Crowder, Smart, that we end up keeping Smart.  But it all depends on what kind of deal DA can work out.
