This is great news. The future of this team is falling into place. I think Zizic is going ro be a very important asset to this team. Still looking forward to next years draft with two top 5 picks to complete a super team built through the draft.
Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum are going to be our Ferrari and Lamborghini, Ante Zizic our Souped up Hummer and Yab, Semi, Nader, our reserved cars kept in close proximity for when we need them. Its hard to say right now if Rozier, Jackson or Alllen are going to replace IT in a few years or draft a stud but i could see Ainge ask Bradley to take the hellm at PG if IT doesnt come back 100% from his injury.
The 018 draft can fill out the roster and make this team more balanced. If the Lakers pick ends up being #'s 2-5 and the Brooklyn pick being in the same range id love to see Danny pick both Bigs Ayton AND Bamba so in 3-4 years from now the roster could look like this;
PG-M. Smart/T. Rozier/D. Jackson/K. Allen
SG-J.Brown/J. Bird
SF-J.Tatum/G. Yabusele/S. Ojeleye
PF-M. Bamba/Ante Zizic
C-DeAndre Ayton/Ante Zizic
Note; Ante Zizic could be switched between C and PF very easily. With this line up, the Celtics could be a dominant beast in the east for many, many years...
I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but Ante Zizic is pretty bad right now. He's not capable of playing Center in the NBA at a replacement level, let alone power forward.
Yeah...
People have been hyping him up like crazy and I've been trying to tell people - take it down a notch, lets see what he can actually do first. Boston has a history of taking overseas players who end up being horribly mediocre, and they almost always seem to be guys who tore it up overseas before coming here. I've learnt to remain cautious in my optimism.
That said I'm also not calling him a failure yet either. Danny's given him a deal, which means he sees potential in him to likely contribute this year. Olynyk and Sully looked pretty terrible early in their rookie years, I think Zizic deserves a chance to learn the NBA game, adjust to the plays, get himself into NBA condition, etc.
Once he does I'm sure he will be a solid contributor.
