Reasons to trade Bradley:
-- He's a FA at the end of the season.  If we pay 1 player it will be IT and not Bradley.
-- So he will likely be gone by next year anyways unless we get value for him now he walks for nothing at end of the year.
-- C's don't really have a backup SG in place unless the plan is to convert Jaylen Brown to the 2.
-- We are selling a rental so can expect to have slightly lower compensation unless AB agrees to an extension with the buying team.

Reasons to trade Crowder:
-- We already have 3 small forwards on the roster now -- Hayward, Tatum, Brown.  Is there enough minutes for Crowder?
-- Crowder's defensive play has fallen off last year.
-- Jae can play some small ball 4, pretty decent 3 and D guy.  Has improved his outside shot to the point where teams can't afford to sag off on him on the perimeter.  But by no means is he a shot creator.
-- He is signed for longer term than AB.  But that also means moving him now creates salary flexibility in the future.
-- Not as high a trade candidate as AB but moving him would still make sense on several levels, especially if we could get a low salary but reasonably good PF in return.

Reasons to trade Smart:
-- Has shown very little offensive improvement in terms of his shooting over his first 3 seasons
-- Probably holds highest trade value as he still has 'unexplored upside'
-- But he makes the least $$ of the three and he's an RFA next season which means Celtics can probably keep him for cheap
-- Least likely trade candidate imo after we passed up on Fultz.  He has shown he can take over and run a team if IT were ever to go down with another injury.

I know the reasons, it's just emotionally sad to see them go.  :(

Smart can' t shoot .

big deal

He does 100 other things very few players can or will do during a game TO FORCE a win out of a losing situation .

Crowder and AB are replacable .  Smarts IQ and winning attitude and effort is rare in any sport.

Yeah plus Smart's next contract doesn't project to be as big as Avery's.

That could be an advantage going forward if we keep Smart at a reasonable rate with Bird Rights.

I think it might be a false assumption that IT is the player we keep under all circumstances after next year.  If IT doesn't recover well from the hip injury, if his production suffers from the addition of GH, if he seems that he isn't flexible at all with is contract demands if the first few happen.  All these things could change the amount that we want to commit long term to IT.

I know that Bradley is a role player, but he is a high level great 2 way role player that will be needed to get past Clev / GS if we want to make a serious push.  Maybe AB likes his situation and wants to give a bit of a home town discount to the C's.  Lots of things can happen right now.

Man I gotta think (hope/Pray) that they keep Smart..  Love that he always grabs the young kids and Initiates them to the Celtics way.. Dude is a Team leader.. The guy who stands in the front of every fight..

AB I love and he has paid his dues and he really deserves the big money.. I love the guy but I want him to go somewhere and get whats owed to him.. I want Danny to send him to a good team with a good chance, not some bottom feeder..  We owe him that...

Jae- ummm. errrrr... When we drafted Brown I had already wrote him off.. This year getting Tatum, I nearly forget his name.. And now bringing in Hayward.... Im like Dang Jae, why do you still have a key to the house.. Go somewhere already lol...   I kid I kid.. But forreal. We have gone younger and better at his spot. ( Brown and Tatum needs to play and they needs to play right away, too much talent)

You're nailing it dead solid perfect here, Shaq.

It won't be the same without Marcus around if that's what it comes to and maybe it won't.

Similar things, of course, can be said about Avery, Jae and KO, as well.

This whole scenario just reminds us how likable these Celts as currently assembled are/were and how difficult it's going to be to say goodbye to the ones who will be leaving.

Just a really good, hard-playing bunch of guys.

Reminds me a bit of how much I liked Al Jefferson, Tony Allen, Delonte West, Ryan Gomes.

And Paul Westphal, Paul Silas, Joe Johnson, and Mel Counts.  :'(
