Ainge hates to draft bigs.
JR Giddens.
Giddens was the 30th pick in the draft.

Ainge has actually used 6 of his last 11 first round selections on big men.

Brown
Smart
Olynyk
Yabu
Rozier
Young
Sully
Melo
Zizic
Johnson
Hunter

Isaac looks great. He doesn't have superstar upside, but it's easy to see him as a top-5 role player in the league.

What's a top 5 role player?  A guy who is in the top 5 of all role players?  Or a top 5 guy who is also a role player?  I can't imagine the latter.  Would Draymond Green fit the former?

Yeah he's a project but he's oozing potential.

Definitely in play.

Honestly I'd be happy with any of Tatum, Jacko, Isaac if we cant swing trade.

Great way to look at it. Danny can make a deal with Phoenix, if he can identify who Phoenix wants.
They have leverage by simply talking to Sacramento.  Could pick up another first round pick to horde! Sometimes I wonder if the reason Boston wants to get players in is to use as leverage for trades.  Great strategy btw.  If we take Isaac it should be at 5. However, Ball might fall.
Alot will depend upon what happens with Paul George and Butler.

I like Isaac, he reminds me of KG.
I just watched a video of Isaac blocking Jayson Tatum's dunk attempt.
Ouch!

Sorry for vagueness. Maybe top 5 out of all players who score <20ppg is what I mean.

Hard to see Isaac being as good as Draymond, but then again it's hard to see Draymond being as good as Draymond.

I believe Danny likes Tatum, Jackson, Isaac and if the lakers take Ball, then he will move down to 5 and 10 on draft night.
5. Isaac and 10. Markkanen or Collins

I wouldn't mind if it's Isaac or Tatum. But chances are the pick will be dealt for Butler or George.

Tatum is the more polished player--a kid who will probably score 20ppg if given the PT. The kid you figure Ainge has his eye on. Bird, too.

Isaac is a wirey 7 footer (6-11 and growing) who can actually bring the ball up and play like a small forward--which he probably is right now, but will be a 4-5 when he fills out. I guess the comparison would be Thon Maker, though Isaacs has a year of major college ball. The kid has a ton of potential, but I doubt Stevens would go for him.

I think Ainge dealt Fultz because he wanted a forward in this slot, not a guard. Philly wanted a guard. And Danny felt the forwards available were comparable in quality to Fultz. And he saw it as an opportunity to grab another draft pick. Perhaps he has also reached the point where he doesn't want to spend $7M for an overall no.1. This is important when you're adding veteran max FAs. Maybe that's why he wasn't concerned with eliminating all the no.1s in the draft deal.
He didn't want them.

Dang, this kid is dripping with potential!  I heard the dreaded KD comparison.  Of course , it was quickly squelched, but, man!!

Seven foot tall, legit handles, an outside stroke.  I think he's a classic boom or bust candidate.  Huge upside, but probably also bigger bust potential than the rest of the top picks.  That skinny frame of his will probably stop him from ever being a legit big.  To make it he'll probably have to be a seven foot creative wing.

Fun prospect.  I'd be cool with rolling the dice.

Very poor NBA career,  but unquestionably a good athlete.  That kid had serious ups.
