Found this in an article from Bulpett few days ago:

http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/celtics/2017/05/bulpett_closer_look_at_possible_changes_to_celtics_roster_for_2017_18

"A couple of opposing execs went as far as to say the C’s were looking for protection when discussing this Nets pick in trade last February, wanting to be able to keep it if it wound up first in the lottery so they could take Fultz."

Basically I see the protection as "we only like fultz in this draft, we prefer butler to anyone else in the lottery"

"If Ainge doesn’t deal the choice away in some blockbuster move, the talk will then move to whether Fultz and Thomas can play together, but both have said they can make it work"

That's a TP Elite. Appreciate it.

TP thanks. So hard to predict what will happen or what they want to do but I still think they draft Fultz.

^^ thanks guys. Its looking more like a sure thing. Only thing I hope is that this isn't speculation from the opposing teams but I don't think so as the protection speaks for itself

In  retrospect would have been fun if we had landed George and had the first pick protected...

I think it would have been unprecedented to turn such a highway robbery trade that we had with the Nets into a twice as big highway robbery deal by getting George and still drafting Fultz.
