  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Hayward has yet to opt out (means nothing really), but here's what he said yesterday:

via ESPN

Gordon Hayward has yet to decide if he will opt out of his contract to become a free agent.

"It's hard to think about right now, just because of the season we've had and everything we've gone through," he said at his end-of-season availability. "Today it still feels like you're looking toward the next game, looking toward the next opponent. That's obviously over. But it's hard to shut that off right away."

Hayward has enjoyed his time in Salt Lake City, joining the Utah Jazz in 2010.

"It's been so much fun for me here in Utah. Kind of growing up here, starting a family," he said, adding later: "I have nothing but love for everybody here in Utah."

Hayward is expected to receive interest from the Boston Celtics amongst a number of other teams.

"We certainly want him to continue here. There's certainly a lot of good things happening here," Quin Snyder said.

Do we have any chance?
Maybe somehow Brad can convince him that in the West and with that style of slow play the Jazz hold on to, they'll never really be a threat because of Warriors etc..

Thoughts?
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

I think it changes nothing. He must say this just in case he leaves, and emotions are prevailing after being swept out of the playoffs.

I'd say our chances are still around 40%. And I can't vote that in your survey  :P  Can you modify it to cover all percentages before people starts to click the thread?

Utah Jazz forward Gordon Hayward said Tuesday he hasn’t thought about whether he will opt out of his contract to become an unrestricted free agent and will take some time off to enjoy time with his family before dealing with the “next chapter.”

He's coming here.

I have already ordered the Jersey. If he isn't coming here, I shall be sending some rather angry letters to him.

Hope he does. Can't stand watching Crowder start right now.

I hope he comes here but I have my doubts.  I give it a 33% chance he comes here.

I voted 50% or better.

If he opts out, which everyone expects him too, we will get a meeting.

In other words, we're getting a meeting!

I think the C's will sell him on being the face if the franchise, the easier path to the top in the Eastern conference, his relationship with Stevens, and the C's combination of short term and long term outlook.

I think Boston has at least as good a chance as anyone else, maybe better, but I don't know who else has cap space.

I hope we can get him because he checks off all the boxes for us right now at the wing position.

3/10.

But I sure have my hopes up. Adding him + Fultz would be franchise-altering.

10% or less. There is no guarantee he even opts out. There was an article awhile ago which showed all of his contract options and it depended a great deal on whether he makes an all NBA team this year.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

It could be later viewed as one of the greatest offseasons in our long storied history. Granted not the best (our last iteration of an offseason miracle takes the cake) but if this dynasty building method works, having a core of Fultz/Smart/Hayward/Brown/Zizic/Horford/IT would be devastating to other teams.

I agree, I think you should add Rozier in there too. He jas been incredible this playoffs..arguably one of our best overall players.
Dude is living up to high expectations and obviously busting his ass to get better every day.

I know it may sound a bit ridiculous, but i feel like theres like a 20% chance that Terry Rozier becomes an All Star scorer.
Don't laugh because it's a faint hope that Danny may have drafted the closest thing to a brilliant pick and this playoff performance by him has been simply amazing to watch.

My question is, what's the money situation?  If he gets a lot more by staying in Utah, then I say the chances of him coming here are close to zero.

I'm pretty sure the only difference is that Utah can offer him a 5th year, we can only offer a Max at 4 years.

The money is only substantially different because Utah can offer a 5th year and we can't. Otherwise the 4-year value of the contract isn't hugely different (about $5.5 million over 4 years, I think).
