How often has Marcus Smart actually leaned back on his threes tho? He mostly does this during a fairly contested three, when it actually goes in!

Marcus should shoot it in a way that feels right to him. His rookie year shot was 34% from three. Stupid Celtics training staff gradually screwed it up with all this mechanical bull crap. Most people get no feel or momentum into a shot without a dip, a sizable jump, etc. All these restrictions imposed on Smart have ruined his jumpshot and he himself said "it doesn't feel right" earlier this season. He may have even been an average-above average shooter if he simply put in reps in his original form.

Soon he's going to go 20% from the field. Thanks Jay Larranga.

Now that his form is drastically different anyways, might as well make even more changes. He wont ever reach a consistency if his release is behind his head, like he's catapulting the shot. Hes no Lebron or KG. Look here at the beginning of the preseason, where he temporarily releases the ball in front of his head. he misses once out of like 10 times. The only one he misses is when he kicks his leg out, yet he's leaning back on pretty much all of those shot attempts.

He is not a natural shooter, his shooting form is incosistent, release slow, often he is not squared up, even his shoot selection is iffy. All of these issues existed as he came to the league. Our staff and he are trying to fix some of his shooting mistakes, while he is still a young player. You are self proclaimed shot doctor and I dont buy your take. Example: name 1 good shooter with such a low dip as Marcus has. I believe in our educated training staff much more than what a casual biased fan says.
