That doesn't mean we shouldn't target Hayward in the summer though, FYI.
He can still get extra minutes with Crowder as I think Bradley could be the "odd man out" here in the next 1-2 years..
Of course that depends on if Hayward will be okay leaving Utah in the summer (which I think is highly doubtful - only a 5% chance of happening).
I do think it is fair to assume one of IT, Bradley and Smart is gone, but I think Bradley is the safest of the three. He actually fits into his role in the least compromising way.
IT is incredible, but a defensive liability, and his contract lands in an uncomfortable spot for the team age wise. Eventually he would be in the way of Fultz or Ball, both of whom should run a team within a couple of years.
Smart is an incredible defender, but he is only OK against the fastest, most skilled point guards. He true genius is at covering bigger players. He is also a historically bad shooter who clogs the lane. Pairing him with Fultz or Ball isn't ideal, because they are better suited to covering shooting guards too.
Bradley has proven he can be a winning combination with IT, despite the size issues. He stretches the defense and makes it easier for other players to drive. He's not needy on offense, but he produces. He would be even better with Fultz, because he can let Fultz or Ball cover shooting guards. His contract lands him at a more comfortable age for the team to pay up.
He is a great fit with any of the other guards.
