Noticed there are a number of times where an offensive player drives to the basket, then stops and pulls up for the jumper near the foul line.
The Celtic defender is basically helpless in contesting the shot because he is retreating, protecting against an easy layup. Sometimes Isaiah is standing behind the shooter while loosely guarding a player near the top of the key. It's incredibly unlikely the shooter is going to turn and pass to the player Isaiah is guarding. I'm thinking to myself, if he were tall enough he'd be able to block some of these shots from behind. I realize he may not be able to contest most of these shots.
However, he could make some movement toward this player just to distract him or stick his hand in his face from behind. Maybe even purposely foul a hot shooter just to let him know that it's not going to be an uncontested shot.
Anyone else notice this? He just stands there and watches the player shoot instead of helping out. My suggestion would be to be more aggressive defensively in these situations.
