rewatched game focusing on marcus on lowry-
marcus forces shot clock violation
smart causes travel
smart cuts to basket for layup
 smart hit horford for slam
smart baseline to basket scores
smart pressures ross into jumper miss
marcus on a cut passes back to jerebko wide open three-scores
marcus great defense forces heave to end 3rd quarter
4th quarter
steal all the way for layup
marcus to zeller in corner for slam but zeller fouled before shot
marcus tight defense forces lowry slip recovered by raptors
marcus contests rebound forces out of bounds off
marcus draws offensive foul
marcus forces a deep deep contested three with time running out -lowry hit it
marcus rebound
marcus forces lowry air ball
marcus forces lowry strip but raptors recovered
marcus rebound to a jump ball and the big big tap back to isaiah--

marcus hounded and pounded the rators for 3rd & 4th quarters --his defense was just so GRITTY and powerfull--
-celtics win and marcus played brilliant two quarters even with his two attempts to steal that misfired -he was ferocious getting over or around screens

In short, he's a Celtic.

TP rollie for the play by play. I mean Marcus is my favorite Celtic because he does all the dirty work and doesn't get a lot of love for it. I mean he is clearly a "winner". I don't care if he throws some bricks sometimes but usually those are end of shot clock heaves. I love his play and don't want to lose this guy in a trade or free agency.

My son (13) stuck in some NBA fantasy game on his tablet was telling me that Marcus Smart is not good.
I was trying to explain to him the value of Smart....
After that last Smart offensive rebound- I looked at him- I think he got the point  ;)

  • That's turrible
Ive loved watching his growth as a player. He's becoming less of an offensive liability while playing better defense than ever. Plus his court vision and passing has become so crucial for this team and its second unit. Maybe one day in the starting lineup as well. Hopefully Smart is part of the next great championship team(s).

Marcus Smart is what gives this team grit. When a dust up breaks out, he's in it. He's tougher than most of our bigs and is always willing to battle in the paint.

Smart is Dennis Johnson. He can't shoot consistently but he's physical and will hit big shots and makes heady plays.

I think that he gets so much love here, cause he was our first child in a way. The first piece to come after the big overhaul.
Defintly our best defensive player this year. MS1= DJ2

I've said time and again that Marcus Smart is untradeable. Everyone who has him going out in a trade to bring back a Butler, or Cousins, or Melo may not appreciate enough what this guy really brings to the basketball court. He's a winner, and an intangibles guy who changes flow. I guarentee if he wasn't on this team we'd look much different.

Smart is the kind of player you want on a championship team. He never complain about starting or playing time. His defense was so good that he was mentioned several times in RaptorsHQ.

Yes.  That's why I've decided that the C's should not make a major deal.

Keep your core: Horford, IT, Crowder, Smart, Bradley, Brown

Trade one or more expiring contracts for front court help.

I know this is the "Absorb Smart's jockstrap" thread.. but anybody else see that fastbreak against Raptors where he had Jaylen above the break but decided to take a contested layup instead?

Where was this aggression on a fastbreak against the Grizzlies where he had old man Vince Carter who TURNED HIS HEAD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BREAK to look at Gerald Green running up, Smart instead of taking advantage and going strong to the rack for the And-one he passes it to Green for a tough layup attempt that ended up being free throws. Not the first time I seen him not look for Jaylen Brown, not the first time I seen him have such low offensive BBALL IQ.

He makes great plays but for the most part I don't want him on the floor for no darn 30 mins. For every 2 assists he'll give the ball away, opponents CAN blow by him, shoot in his face and in general when he's in there, there's always too much pressure on everyone else to score on offense.
