Nothing...don't want a player that kills our cap flexibility next year while doing nothing for us defensively.

Seriously...?

I swear "cap flexibility" is like the 2017 buzzword around here.

Vucevic is making $11m a year over the next three years - that's less then Tristan Thompson is making.  It's less then Evan Turner is making.  It's less then Amir Johnson is making.  it's barely more then what Tyler Zeller is making.

That's for a 26 year old seven footer who has averaged 17.5 points, 10 rebounds and 2.5 assists over the past 3 seasons.

But you don't want to trade for him because you want "cap flexibility".  Do tell, what exactly do you intend to DO with that "cap flexibility"?  Sign a max free agent?

What if the max free agents sign elsewhere?  What if they return to their old teams, who can offer them more money then us?

I guess we're screwed then huh?  We just turned down a trade for an excellent starting big man for a free agent signing that never happened.  Bummer.

Sorry, just recounting what has happened in Celtics land every single season (bar last season) for the past decade.

Completely agree. If there is a chance to grab Vucevic without giving up the core id do it..give em the memphis pick and the Cs 2018 pick to boot.

If the guy is so good and on a great contract, why they are trying to shop him?
That doesn't make any sense at all.
Well, it's Orlando, they did trade Oladipo and Sabonis for a year rental of Ibaka.
They also sign Biyombo to an albatros contract.

Still, why they shop him?
Not believing in this rumor at all.

He is slow on D, and a poor fit for the modern stretch out the floor NBA, perhaps, those are the knocks against him

Cap flexibility landed the Celtics Al Horford and almost landed us Kevin Durant. Cap flexibility can land us a max free agent this summer. Cap flexibility can be used to absorb a player in a trade so we can just pay in draft picks for that player rather than trade valuable player assets from our core. Cap flexibility allows Danny Ainge to get very creative with being able to shape the roster next summer. I will trust he will know the best way to use that flexibility.

I'd give them anything besides the following:

-IT
-Horford
-Bradley
-Smart
-Brown
-BKN 17
-BKN 18

Essentially, they can have any combo of our non attractive assets. A couple of non BKN picks might do the trick.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

Watching Biyombo last year in the playoffs, it was hard to not get excited. Many thought he would turn into the next Ben Wallace, who was a valuable member of a championship team. I could see them trying to build around any combo of Biyombo, Gordon, or Ibaka. Vucevic is the odd man out. I'll take him and give him Jerebko/Olynyk's minutes. I see that as an upgrade for the Celtics.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

I don't agree the with those who just want to hoard cap space. Who are you signing with the money? No max-level player is likely to leave their team this summer.
1957, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1974, 1976, 1981, 1984, 1986, 2008, 2024
