I see Zizic replacing Zeller and JJ at a minimum. ......cheap good help ....eliminate two contracts.
O
So there's that .

Nader should push Young out , given a chance. Nader is self made and hungry , Young is opposite IMO.

I d upgrade Amir with Noel waiting the either trade or let him walk playout.  Trade KO for Noel. ....paying KO is a bad idea.

Then bring in a Star via trade of players ands picks. ......keeping the 2017 pick to take Giles or Fultz

Besides this .....I'd do nothing

Nothing is not a choice ......we are on the clock ,  the picks are coming needmto get the most value , do nothing really is not logical.  It's time to DO SOMETHING

There is a lot of fan attachment here for role players on the team.  Do we really have an untouchable asset?

Boy, you are not kidding.
I think the only people not on the block are Horford and IT. Everyone else is fair game for one reason or another.

Remember the "I'm going to stop watching the C's because we traded Big Al" crowd? Yeah....

The night of the Garnett and Allen trades was high comedy around here. There were posters who left for good over the trades, irate that our "valuable assets" had been squandered.

Of course, events soon made it impossible for them to return ...

No such thing as an untouchable player, anywhere. Of course, there is a difference between "untouchable" and "nobody's gonna pay us enough to do it."

I'm waiting for Ainge to make an offer for Cousins the Kings can't refuse. Cousins is the only guy who can vault them into serious contention.

He may have already.  The Kings being the Kings, though, they'll wait until all they can get for him is a couple of late seconds or lose him in free agency

I am not in favor of doing nothing, but I would be fine if the opposite of nothing is no more than Zeller for Bogut, or some small add on like that.

Let's be real about the team's chances.  Mortgaging future top-5 picks and cheap, young in-their-prime starters to bring in someone like Jimmy Butler gets this team nowhere closer to Cleveland or GSW.  If we could add Butler without giving up a starter, different story.  But that is not happening.

I am not sure Boogie makes the Celtics a better team.  The one caveat there is that he could hurt Cleveland, Toronto, and GSW in areas where they are weak, which is in the front court.

And the documentable evidence that Cousins is available is what?

First of all, it's fascinating to see all the varying opinions on this.

My opinion: Ainge has positioned the team in such a way that at any given time—trade deadline, draft day, whenever—he can shift gears if the right opportunity presents itself.

He's made moves that have produced a consistently better team over the last few seasons, while at the same time collecting picks that should become (in one way or another) valuable players.

I've often been frustrated with Danny's holding pattern—pretty much every time he's "kicked the can down the road" at a trade deadline or on draft day—but I'm confident that he won't blink first when it comes to dealing with other teams.

So it's not really a matter of "do something" vs. "do nothing"; it's more like, "Danny WILL do something—the right thing—at the right time."

So what's the consensus on this thread about what to do with the Nets picks? I like this new crop a lot but does our starting core's window aligns with Lonzo Ball's for example?

Look at the current regimes with Cavs and the Warriors. Their "transcendent player" is the ball handler. The whole offense built around their respective skillset.  Isaiah is amazing, but i dont think him as our offense is gonna get us over the hump. Unless we add another heavy punch to the starting lineup our 2, 3, and 4 are basically complimentary players, with Horford one of the most versatile bigs in the game. Even if we get Cousins, our bench hasn't been strong and still mostly just prospects and Jerebko.

This is the smartest thing Ainge can do.   We got Horford.  Too many players are paid huge contracts that don't necessarily improve our team or put us in position to win.  I'm excited for our team.  Isaiah, Bradley, Crowder, Amir and Horford is a formidable lineup.  I'm more excited for our bench and developing players like Rozier, Smart, Brown, jerebko and Olynyk.  the celtics have a good team.   We could use a star but I'm not willing to give up Smart or Brown to do that.  Smart in particular is getting cast aside in deals here where I don't think it's smart. Keep the nets 17 draft pick.  Unless we can add a couple stars without giving up our core, there is no reason to do that.

The Celtics are in position where they can be sitting really pretty with that 17 draft pick. I would possibly move that or the 18 for a surefire star, but no way I am giving up our core.

Smart
Brown
Isaiah
Horford

should not be traded.  Avery, Crowder and draft picks potentially to land a surefire star, but I would not move our core.

Bradley and Crowder (both starters) are not part of our core ?? I would add those two players to your untouchables list and I agree with the idea of being patient. We have great chemistry. Our draft picks plus a big free agent will put us over the top in a couple of years.
