I think it would help his game if he looked to drive more often instead of just keeping the ball moving.
But then again, I feel like I can say the same thing about every single one of our players except for IT and (of all players) the rookie.
Brad has the team pass-happy. I think it's unfair to call out guys like Crowder, Jerebko, Amir for not driving and not being aggressive, when it's the coach who's telling them how to play.
We have several players who would be completely different offensive players outside of this system.
Who do you think would be different outside of this system? I can think of 2 maybe 3 max.
Aside from the 3 I already mentioned (Amir and Jerebko both averaged a lot more points before coming here) Smart, Olynyk, Green, Rozier, and Brown can all create their own shots, and could score more points if a coach told them to shoot more and pass less. Bradley would be a 20+ point scorer ala Harrison Barnes, Klay Thompson, Wiggins, Beal, McCollum, Walker, Melo, etc. if he chucked as many shots as those guys.
That's our whole team, except IT and Horford who ironically are our first 2 options. And Horford came from the Hawks who also had a pass-happy system designed to keep the ball moving, so who knows what his scoring capabilities could be if a coach asked him to be a main scorer (I doubt he'd have any trouble scoring 20+ if he took the same amount of shots as Towns, Griffin, Lopez, Parker, Zinger, Gasol, etc).
I'll say it again: IT and Brown are the ONLY guys at all who ever drive to the basket with the intention to score.
We clearly have other players who are capable of doing the same thing (9 others if you ask me) but they don't do it and Brad doesn't ask them to (except for Horford who he'll call plays for to get him involved).
I personally think it would beneficial for those players to do so, but I'm not Brad Stevens. I'm not saying my ideas are better than his. I'm just pointing out the facts which are: Brad has this team extremely pass-happy and slightly jumpshot-happy.
....To the point we're too predictable.
