I think it is a big sign that Brown has been the first player coming into the game. As others have said he honestly looks to bring a different value to the game that others don't. He is able to get to the rim IN THE OFFENSE. That is a huge deal. I can't wait to see a lineup with IT/Bradley/Brown/KO/Horford. Imagine the damage Brown can do with all that spacing? This is going to be so fun to watch. Or the IT/AB/Crowder/Brown/Horford. So many different lineups for this team. Versatility is so much fun.

I think he'll be earning plenty of minutes in no time.  JJ's going to be picking a lot of splinters out of his butt this season

One thing to keep in mind is that Gerald Green has been out and is likely to get some of these SF minutes. That said, I agree that Brown will be getting 15-20 minutes a night between the two forward positions.

And who even knows what the deal is with Green. His production has been erratic for as long as he's been in the league. He might not even be a factor this year. I think he's got potential to have some nice games but I'll wait and see with him.

I think a second unit of Brown, Green, Olynyk, Rozier, and Smart should get plenty of time together and will probably be our best option. That's a very fast and athletic unit that can get out in transition and have enough shooting to create adequate spacing.

One thing I've really liked this season is Brown's ability to play the 4. He did a great job on Kaminsky, who is a guy that should exploit a 6'7 rookie. But he didn't. It's important for him to get as many minutes as possible, and the ability to play the 4 will be huge for that.

I think he can get regular minutes, I don't see him playing much 4 though. Don't forget KO will be back someday.

Did you guys see that small ball lineup with Amir and Brown at the 4? It looked good stifling defense and switching Hornets struggled to get anything going

Brown has looked surprisingly good.

It will be interesting to see how he manages once teams scout him a little and play aggressive on him as he's dribbling -- force him to maneuver or pass out of traps, make plays for others.

I know this is preseason, but Brown's versatility is looking like it's appealing to Brad. He can legitimately play the 2-4, though Brad hasn't played him much at the 2 yet, and he's certainly aggressive and confident attacking the rim. When we get our defense back on track and start forcing more turnovers and running more, Brown is going to really excel in the open court offense.

Don't expect him to get Smart minutes right off the bat, but it wouldn't surprise me to see him getting 15-20 minutes by the end of the season. He's progressing and learning the game much faster than most of us thought he would.

We'll have a really solid 10-deep unit of the starters (IT, AB, JC, AH, and AJ) and the bench mob (TR, MS, JB, JJ, and KO) that Brad can rely on playing regular minutes night in and night out.
Not sure why you're only now starting to think this. It has been abundantly clear for a while that he'll be the first SF off the bench.

You always have an know it all attitude in your responses. Sorry the world is not as smart as you. Oh wait, you've been wrong plenty of times too. Look at my sig for example. Pretty sure you were down on Brown before the draft too unlike me.

that is what I was thinking, Brown was always going to get at least 15 minutes a night.
I think so. I know they signed Green, but I think that was before Rozier played himself into a regular rotation guy. At this point, Green strikes me as extra shooting off the bench and veteran insurance in case Brown or Rozier bomb spectacularly.

The point is he won't just really play out of necessity of lack of depth at the 3 now. He's actually shown that he's somewhat capable of playing the 4 in small-ball lineups already, so his versatility will give his playing time some merit that isn't solely based on need and our shallow depth at the 3.

I ranged him at anywhere from 10-13 minutes before the season, but I don't see it as a stretch to see him regularly get 20 minutes a night by mid-season. I don't think that's a trivial observation at this point.

I don't think it was ever going to be out of necessity, I thought this was their plan all along. I also think his place in the small ball lineup is at the 3 when Crowder slides to the 4. We'll see.

He played at the 4 some when Crowder wasn't in there, too. I believe one lineup had Rozier, Bradley, Smart, Brown, and Amir out there.

Chances were always slim that he would average less than fifteen minutes per game.  It's quite rare that top three draft picks don't see rotation minutes in their rookie seasons.  I have never expected Jaylen Brown to be an exception.

Brown has surprised me quite a bit so far...Reminds of how Reggie Lewis quickly started earning minutes way back when.

He's only 19--?
Playing like a 22-23 year old already...Happy we got him--I was against this pick.
