Who would Ainge drafted Fourth this Year

 First off let me say I'm thrilled to have gotten Brown and thank God we didn't get screwed in the lottery last draft.

 That said if Simmons, Ingram, and Brown were gone and Ainge had to pick fourth who does he take?

 I think now in heinsight the third pick was easy, just take who's left out of the three players Mentioned, but four would have been tough.

 Dunn, Complete Logjam at guard. Bender, he stinks and is light-years away. Chriss? Knucklehead. Hield or Murray?

 What a nightmare the fourth pick could have been. Thank you Basketball Gods. Jaylen's stock actually went down last year and he was the third pick. He's got superstar talent!

Well depending on who was picking Brown would still be available However assuming he was gone he'd either have selected Dunn or traded the pick I think. As high as some of us were on Bender it appears Ainge was never really close to drafting him and Murray just doesn't fit with the type of players we have drafted in recent years.

I could see Sacramento being interested in trading up for Dunn and possibly trading WCS in the process, that would have made more sense picking 4th than when we were 3rd

After his debut last night, I'm pretty sure Brown is going to get big minutes (about 25) this year. That means he gets the best of all worlds for his drafting and development: plenty of playing time, but not too much pressure, and a good team and organization with likely substantial playoffs games to learn from in the meantime.

I would have taken the rumored trade with Philly, but if I kept 3, I would have taken Bender, so I would have taken Bender at 4, though do agree Ainge wouldn't have taken Bender.

Yeah, I don't think I'd have taken Brown, but I'm already sold on him now.

Hindsight is always 20:20, by definition, but it seems Dunn would have been BPA (if Brown was gone to someone else at 3).

Without hindsight is more interesting:  I was (and still am) a big Buddy Hield fan.  I still think he will make a great pro.

If brown was gone as in the prompt, I think I take the eighth and WCS from the kings. Now it would be interesting who to take at 8. I think we still take Chriss and continue to take draft and stashes with the rest of the picks. It would continue the roster crunch, but WCS has much higher upside than Mickey.

Considering there wasn't many good big men, and the importance of 3PT shooting, I was high on players like Hield, Valentine etc. Of course by trading down or draft and trade with a team down in the board. But Danny surprised us (at least me) with taking Brown due to his freakish athletic ability, penetration and great intangibles. So with the 4th pick we would be in for another surprise.

I didn't say this earlier, but for the record, I don't think Brown goes 3 to any of the other teams that realistically could have been picking there.  Depending on team I believe it would have Bender or Dunn and thus with the 4th pick, Boston would have selected Brown.

Yeah Danny likes to draft "bulldogs with pro bodies".

Bender is not there yet.

FWIW - if the ping pong balls are not kind in 2017, keep an eye on Bam...Danny will be intrigued with his measurables.

I think Dunn would have been the pick. He fits Danny's mold.

Based on what others have speculated, Brown might have been there down to 6 or even 7.  So we probably still take brown.

Now assuming he were actually gone, DA would have done what he already did; take the best player available.  If that was Dunn or Bender of whoever didn't matter.

 That's the way to go talent and asset wise. Would really have created a roster crunch, and for some reason I didn't want Dunn all year long.

Well, Phoenix made it pretty clear they were interested in Bender all along (I think they spent more time scouting him in Israel than any other team) so I suspect that Brown would have still been on the board at #4.

I always had Bender and Brown as my two top picks (behind Simmons & Ingram) so I am perfectly happy we took Brown and would have been fine if we took Bender.   I know Bender isn't "wow"ing anyone at this point, but he's still wicked young and would have been a long term project, for a year or two down the road.  That actually would have been fine on our roster as it turns out, since no rookie big would be cracking minutes.  It will be interesting to watch his long-term development. 

But of the two, Brown clearly looks far more ready to contribute sooner, at least on our roster.

Outside of those two, to be honest, I was only interested in Dunn if we traded the pick.  I like Dunn, but I think he benefited a lot by being an older player in comparison to his competition.  When you break it down (age, physicals, year-over-year stats), we already have a very, very similar player in Rozier.  Indeed, one can argue Rozier is a better prospect (he's virtually the same exact age as Dunn, yet has a year of pro experience under his belt).   I know you don't draft for need, but considering we got Rozier at 16, I just have a hard time expending a top 5 pick on an almost identical player.

I also wasn't too excited by Heild or Murray, though I would have understood the reasoning (shooters).  Too be honest, outside of Brown/Bender, I think I would have wanted Danny to trade out of the top 8.
