i have not followed gerald greens career except by backtracking to miami and phoenix
last season there were articles written with greens quotes, as to his concentrating on defense and don't even talk about offence ,there were quotes from teammates on progress on defense
it seems phoenix with isaiah was a positive and goran dravic-pace must have had something to do with it-green played well with miami early in season
but as the team pace slowed down, the youth progressed and the addition of joe johnson taking his minutes in late season and playoffs
-it was another move  and vet minimum
now he is back with isaiah again on a winning team with youth at his position
at 30 green retains his athleticism and will have help of bostons defense and transition
brad wants pace  so with his buddy isaiah at point and even off ball looking out for you, promoting you and getting you the ball on your spots-green could really shine-

now the ugly question was green a victim of his athleticism and didn't play basketball, didn't play defense, lazy or no BBIQ???-can green have just grown up at 30 and decided to play basketball ?-

A player has to pick something up after 2 million years in the league, right?

I know you are very excited about Green, Rollie, but maybe you should lessen your expectations a bit and see how he does in this system.  Every year that Green looks like he is finally progressing he generally follows it up with a horrible year.  He's wildly inconsistent year to year and team to team.

If he does have a great year, it's going to make the Jae/Jaylen/Green musical chairs situation really tricky. Especially when we take Josh Jackson with the BKN pick next year  ;)

i think you missed my ugly question at end
i think that is a cold shower
isaiah does an interview and praises green big time, brad talks of fearing him-thats good enough for me to start being positive because turner is gone and jaylens a rookie and green has 36-40% history on threes
-horford is a given but green is a vet minimum who could surprise
-i think it is safer having expectations of green than jaylen or rj
that includes rozier

I'd agree. I think he'll be before brown in the rotation . would be nice to be confident in a guy hitting a corner 3.

I think he'll start the season before Brown in the rotation but I'm more confident in Brown's ability to keep himself in the game mentally, especially on the defensive end.  If Green's head isn't in it, he will be benched.

Green could have a great year, and I hope he does.  But I'll consider anything he gives us a bonus.

If you recall the Red Sox from the 1970's and 80's, Dwight Evans went from half a career as a lousy hitter to one of the best. Yes, Green could be a rare gem of a late bloomer. He doesn't have to be an all-star, just high quality for a bench player. He is a weapon off the bench. He could fill the Eddie House instant offense role.

Olynyk needs to step up. Crowder needs to not be a fluke one-year wonder. Smart needs to be smart on offense. Bradley needs to stay healthy and fine-tune. Isaiah needs to limit turnovers and become an assist machine, hit his jumpers.

It's all very exciting, intriguing and drawing closer to starting.

I still think this sucker is wide open. Guys like Zeller, Mickey and Hunter are hungry to feel a part of it. Rozier snuck in for some decent cameos. Hunter was hot and cold mostly cold. Mickey put up stats but often looked inept on offense.

The days of Fab Melo and James Young are ancient history.

There is some ferocious competition within the roster depending on how many players blossom or remain in basically training.

Isaiah, Crowder and Bradley seem to be at the top of their games. Amir and Al Horford are the two biggest names. They are seasoned, proven vets who will keep everything steady, same as Brad's outlook.

I am not taking back my prediction for 60+ wins. When we win the title this year in Cinderella fashion, I will point to this post and say I told you so.
