I'd offer IT4 + 2018 Celtics 1st rounder + future LAC 1st rounder

For a one year rental - a player who's skills are duplicated elsewhere on the roster - i.e .Rozier and one guy we don't want to keep.  That's it.

I wouldn't even do that except that maybe Westbrook with what's here currently gives you a decent shot vs Golden State if you can get by Cleveland. I do think the way to beat GS is get very, very physical with them if the refs will allow it.  Add Westbrook to what's currently here and we'd have the kind of team that could really mess GS up.

But if it's only for a year.....

Well it's not just a one year rental, it's a chance to convince a top 5 player to stay with you.
His skills aren't just 'duplicated elsewhere on the roster'...he's a top 5 NBA player...there's a difference isn't there?

Read that last line again. One more time.

Well, he's not going to sign a contract extension for us, so it doesn't really matter. What we should ask is how much we'd be willing to trade for his word that he'll re-sign here long-term.

If he gave us a "handshake agreement" that he'd re-sign here, I'd give up one of the Brooklyn picks, Rozier, and EITHER Smart or Brown, though the more I see Brown the more I'm questioning how smart it would be to trade him away.

I'm talking about the player your give up being someone who's skills are duplicated on the roster - i.e. one who's loss won't weaken your team for the long haul - Rozier.

I just don't buy into mortgaging your future in the hope Westbrook likes it here...he'll be able to play wherever he wants to and all signs point to that being LA.

Plus there's enough talent here right now where they can be a little selective in what they do next.

Brooklyn is going to suck for the foreseeable future.  You may be giving up a future all star if you do that. But if i'm Presti I'll gladly make that deal with you immediately.

Haha, I remember when everyone said DeRozen was an LA guy and was a mortal lock to sign with the Lakers.

Funny that it turns out top players actually give a crap about winning

Bentil, Demetrius Jackson, a couple of future 2nd rounders. Maybe I'll consider throwing Nader in there too?

Isaiah. I love his spirit, I love his game. But if I can have one year of Russell Westbrook for two years of Isaiah Thomas, especially when I have two or three PG prospects who could maybe take over in a year in the absence of both Westbrook and Isaiah? That is an absolute no-brainer. Isaiah + non-Brooklyn picks + non-Smart/Brown prospects.

Without extension:

One 2nd rounder + Hunter or Jerebko. But since roumors say Danny is weak on Jonas,...  ::)

Yeah, not much without an extension. Bradley , Rozier and Zizic or Yabusele without an extension.

No Bradley, No Brown n no Brooklyn picks without an extension. Period

Hey guys. I saw on hoopshype that okc wants to sign Westbrook for an additional 3 years. Could this be ( other than just wanting to keep him) okc doing this in order to complete a deal with a team like the Celtics to assure a deal gets done and they get the most assets they can? Does this solve the worry of him bolting? Do you think any of this is even likely? Thanks.
