jerry west brought up all those series losses and they were from boston celtics-
east coast grit and determination vs some serious collection of talent out west-
the celtics again with coaching a perimeter defence that now has horford, a intuitive skilled defender behind it-and ainge still on the prowl
hopefully the warriors  coast through the season but i expect some physical play out of detroit, cavs, boston and indiana-
they caved in the playoffs and we played them to a standoff and beat them on home court
seth doing his routine after hitting deep threes is getting old and it couldn't beat lebron-
it will be interesting to see kelly with horford, that middle will be wide open for isaiah

Was thinking about this last night, how Jerry West supposedly closed the deal by telling KD how his 1-7 finals record still haunts him.   Glad to hear it, West.

It will be interesting to see if these guys will be able to close the deal. KD and Steph are two of the three best players in the league, but they are both kind-of choke artists when the moment is big (see: Steph in both finals performances and KD blowing a 3-1 lead). Draymond is a tough, gritty big game player, but Iggy is getting old and won't be able to carry them to a finals win.

It is definitely fitting that a career loser like West united two losers in Steph and KD. It is a match made in heaven.

TP!

Flashy west coast "superteams" which have lost to grittier sums greater than their parts from the east...always seems to happen that way, no? (Except '08 when we flipped the script!) And you'd think Jerry West would know better by this point...although, to be fair, the guy's been responsible for putting together 10+ championships in between those epic failures...gotta hand it to him, he's gotten his revenge, mostly.

So, remember the...

1969 Lakers (Celtics grit)
2004 Lakers (Pistons grit)
2011 Heat (Mavs grit)
2013 Lakers (total implosion, lol)
2015 Warriors (Cavs grit)

That would be nice if somehow we could land 2 starters at the 3 and 5 position and make it to the finales.
I like our chances.

Is there any doubt that Lebron is still the best player in the NBA?

Oscar never played with those guys.

In fact, he's a counterexample since the Bucks were instantly dominant and won the title when he was traded (by Cousy?) and paired up with Kareem.

But before then, he did have quite a bit of talent next to him on the Royals in Lucas and Twyman. Every team did, though. There were, like, 8 teams.

Not at all - I was 100% against Lebron and the Cavs winning the championship this year - partly because I didn't want it to be 'official' that he was better than Bird, but also I couldn't stand Lebron's egotistical attitude (I am sure there was a hint of jealousy there, too).

Now that KD is joining up with the super-team, I have a new found adulation for Lebron. He is the NBA's only hope of defeating this monster. 'The Decision' was bad, but this is just sad for all parties involved. I hated Lebron, but I just have zero respect for KD.
