That BS narrative about FAs not wanting to sign here made me think:

Not signing a FA has as much to do w opportunity -- as others have mentioned above. Another (maybe better) indicator is FAs leaving a town, since we HAVE resigned our own FAs.

Can't think of them right now but who's the best FA to leave BOS as a FA?

Ray Allen I guess... But that was in the twilight of his career. Before that? Rick Fox?  :o

I think every situation is different.  A team does it one way and then people think that is the way it is.  The Celtics really have not been in position to do what they are now.  Miami with Wade, Bosh, Lebron were in position to do that and then people think that's the way it is.  That's how Miami did it yeah.  It also didn't last.

Players do tend to trend to teams that are willing to pay a lot of money and have good weather but I'm glad we aren't the lakers doing that right now. That's not really a winning formula.  If we threw big money at bad players when we were bad we probably would attract more free agents too. We  just don't do that.

If a player has to choose if he is going to get paid a lot to go to LA and be on a bad team or ours they might choose LA.

Dallas is a team that throws a lot of money at free agents.  That's just how they do things.  Is Dallas really that great a place to be?

The argument here is that most people do not choose to sign with the Celtics.  I know he was not a free agent, but KG had to agree to come to the Celtics.  He was not forced.

So I'd say KG was the best player ever to want to come to the Celtics.

We were over the cap for two decades.  I always knew we could be a player in free agency.  Boston is a sports city.  The Patriots and Red Sox never have trouble.  People claimed this was different.  It's not.  We always had this potential.  Glad to finally kill the myth that the Celtics can't bring in big names.
Preach on LB, preach on.

The FA narative is definitely false. We had no problems pitching Boston to FAs when KG was here.
