The latest Boston Celtics rumors have them pushing to make a deal with Hassan Whiteside when free agency opens on Friday.
According to a report furnished by Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders on Tuesday, the Boston Celtics are expected to be one of a handful of teams to make an offer to emerging star center Hassan Whiteside.
There is undoubtedly a limited supply of players in the mold and athleticism of Whiteside in the NBA today, and his versatility in the paint, both offensively and defensively, is a large reason that he will be generating so much interest on the open market from teams like the Celtics when free agency begins on July 1.
In addition to Boston, other teams rumored to be interested in the 27-year-old big man include the Los Angeles Lakers, Charlotte Hornets, and Dallas Mavericks.
The incumbent Miami Heat are also very interested in retaining their starting center of the last two seasons, but are reportedly wavering in regards to whether or not they want to offer Whiteside the max.

1. Steve who?

2. There isn't anything remotely close to saying that we "are pushing" in the original article. In fact, it's mostly meaningless conjecture.

3. It's hard to take seriously a person who insists on spelling Heat all caps.

Deep Breath.

Cheap max deal though... 21mill will be a bargain even only next year, let alone in 2020.

Hassan has been in the league for 5 years now. He has 36 career assists.

I don't put too much stock into what he says, but I haven't seen him talking out of his ass all that much. I do question what his sources are. But as far as Orlando Magic is concerned, at least, he seems fairly connected. Don't think he's connected all that much outside of that. Basketball Insiders certainly has given him more reach though.

How do you go around writing a list of teams who are "interested" without giving any indication where that information comes from?  So annoying.  And, the HEAT thing in all capital letters, as Koz pointed out, that's just infuriating!!
