With all the odd trades that have been going on. He may have a point.

Wyc seemed particularly fired up, especially for some one who is generally collected. I get the sense that the Bulls were being more unreasonable for Butler than we believe. Crowder + 3 and some other pieces should have been fine. They were probably looking for Wiggins and LaVine + Dunn from Minnesota too.

I see the whiny crowd is out in full force.  The degree of certitude about the eventual career performance levels of draftees is breathtaking, to say the least.

I actually enjoy watching the meltdowns :)

People, that poo poo platter from Philly wouldn't have moved the needle for us at all.  As others have said, Noel is going to get paid soon...Covington is a bench player...2 MORE draft picks!

Brown is going to be a great player because he will have to be one...

...now, as for that #16th pick, as others have said, it'll be funny to hear Tommy try to pronounce his name! :)

So he got mad that they were trying to out-Ainge Danny and took his ball home?

If Wyc said the sun sets in the west, I'd have to go outside and look.

I don't believe a word he says.

Becauuuuuuuuuuse a year from now, you can sign him long-term as a FA AND keep the #3 for Jaylen Brown.  I like Noel, he's a much better (less worse) fit for us than Okafor, but it's not worth sending out the #3 overall to rent him for a year before maxing him out.

All that said, if he continues to develop and hits free agency, he might well be worth a max offer from us a year from now.

If you think he's worth the contract, sign him next year.

Asking price for Butler was Smart, Bradley, Crowder, 3, 16, 23 and next year's Nets pick.  Um I think I agree with Wyc.

Same. I'm not gutting a 48 win team so we can watch the '06 Celtics all over again. I think what this means is that the Bulls were listening but really don't want to part with Butler and I don't blame them.

James Stewart reads headlines for the Felger and Mazz show. I'll wait for an actual source. THat seems like a massive overpay

I admit to being one of the people who would have made the Noel deal if it's accurate.  Prior to this draft, I considered Noel to be 95% out the door as a FA to leave that Philly dumpster fire in his rearview mirror.

After this draft, I'm not so sure.  Philly did pretty well I think.  I would expect them to be on the upswing next year.  won't sniff the playoffs but I don't think we'll be discussing them as the worst team in the league either.  That might be enough to get Noel to stay in Philly (assuming they don't trade him to be sure they get something before he hits the market).  Signing him as a FA may not be as automatic as I believed pre-draft

I think the fans were focussed more on the Philly deal for Noel or Okafor than any Butler deal.
The media had this deal heating up to the draft, where Philly was upping their offer. There wasn't anything positive on a Butler deal.

Personally, I always thought Butler was too far a reach. Especially after they traded Rose, who vultured points off Butler (and vice versa). You can imagine the same with Butler and IT.
