I would trade Olynyk to move up of possible. He is TOO SOFT and Ryan Anderson is available as a free agent who is better than Olynyk in every way.
Except defense and his salary. Olynyk is making $3 MM while Ryan Anderson is going to cost 20-25 MM.

I'm not sure how you could say Olynyk is soft but think Ryan Anderson is the solution.

The fact of the matter is the C's score and defend better with Olynyk on the court.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Agreed with this. KO might not have the scoring stats that Anderson does but replacing Anderson with KO really wouldn't move the needle all that much for us and would cost us an extra 17-18 million dollars. Take KO all day and spend that FA money more wisely.

This shoulder problem of his took way too long for him to feel good enough to play when he was needed. I see him as soft. Ryan Anderson I doubt is going to cost as much as you say per season but if so then obviously teams that may pay him that amount obviously think his skills are salary appropriate as well. Another thing is Anderson can rebound some where Olynyk cannot. I do agree with the fact that Olynyk at his current salary vs. Anderson at his potential salary is a much better value but I am going under the premise that Olynyk is used to move up in the draft and get "another" quality player at low salary.

The shoulder he just had surgery on?

Yes that one. I don't think Larry Bird or Pierce would have missed important games when they were needed for something that occasionally slipped in and out. I don't dislike Olynyk but the shoulder is just ONE example of several times in the past where he has missed long periods of time for what were considered minor injuries. And the "soft" part is also not just in reference to injuries but the way he plays for a 7-footer. Never strong, fall-away shots, would prefer to get rid of the ball rather than go strong against a defender to the basket. JMO.

First thing I thought of. The wheelchair was second.

Also, IIRC, Perkins had the same kind of shoulder subluxation issue. It forced him to miss a game in the NBA Finals.

If that kind of thing kept Perkins out of the biggest game imaginable, I can't fault Olynyk for missing time.

Wow. Way to pull that out of the archives. I don't need to keep going back and forth on this and the injury. Maybe I am way off-base even suggesting he is soft because of missing important games from what was considered a minor injury or discomfort at the time. But that doesn't change my opinion that he plays "soft" for his size. Wouldn't you love to see him dunk strong on somebody like just once?

Eh, I'd rather see him drill threes on a consistent basis. More points than a dunk.

What are you going to get for a guy coming off shoulder surgery?

A guy coming off knee surgery!

TP. The injury was significant. Try having Andre freaking Drummond land on YOUR shoulder, then tell me how soft Olynyk is!

I would definitely move KO and our remaining first rounders and top second rounders if it would guarantee Buddy or Jakob with Toronto's pick.
