good coaches or just beneficiaries of Jim West incredible team building abilities?

Would Mark Jackson be winning at the this rate with GSW, if so, is the most 'unlucky' coach in NBA history?

Did Lakers get a good coach in Luke Walton or is he 'fools gold'?

Can the GSW just roll out the ball and win at this clip, or do they need a formidable coach?

You know, that's a good question. I think if you gave someone like Byron Scott the warriors, it'd be bad for them. But give them a half decent coach and they're still a very good team. I think, however, to be contenders and such a dominant team, they'll need an elite coach.

Side note. I don't think Luke is that great of a coach. I mean, Kerr was still helping the warriors while Luke was coaching, he was just not on the sideline.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

I wouldn't call Mark Jackson anything near a good coach.

Mark Jackson would not be winning at this rate because he would still be obsessed with the inefficient strategy of pounding the ball inside and posting up.

Jackson was holding the Warriors back by trying to fit them into a traditional 3-out, 2-in offense with Curry relegated to running off of pin-downs and getting pick-and-roll looks out of simple horns sets. He had a new era team in a 90's offense. It simply didn't max out the potential of the team.

Kerr mixed triangle concepts with (parts of) Adelman's corner concept, D'antoni's spread pick-and-roll, and Pop's read-and-react motion set. His range of playing experience under some of the greatest coaches of all time led to the Warriors' beastly, hybrid-type offense that leads to tremendous spacing and multiple pick-and-roll looks from all sorts of angle throughout a possession. It's insane if you try to break down the Warriors' sets. Stumbling upon the small ball lineup with Green doesn't hurt, either.

I think Walton is a great coach, simply because he soaked in all of Kerr's knowledge. He always seemed like a precocious kid that was cognizant of in-game dynamics and could communicate effectively; I think he just needed the right message to communicate.

Neither Jim, nor Jerry West, built the Warriors.
