So much depends on the lottery outcome

8 days till lottery, something all of us are waiting for.
If the pick lands in the 1-3 range, I feel we can make a strong run at Jimmy Butler (or some other big name).
I think this is the crucial part of the offseason, the magnet for the Durant signing.
Our current talent level needs improvement to make us a more enticing destination.
We can create a great package for Butler, something like Bradley, BKN pick, Amir and some more picks. We can afford to overpay, there is a bigger goal from hoarding picks.
We should go hard for that player, even if they want a 2018 BKN pick.
If the pick land in a 5,6 range, I don't feel it is a dealbreaker to make the Chicago's front office hit the reset button.
Acquiring Butler would show Durant we mean business and that we are in a win now mode.
No more rebuilding, going for the title.
If hesigns I'm pretty sure we can get a shot blocker. Someone will chase the ring, we would still have cap space, and there are many bigs available at this year's free agent market. We can also trade for that missing piece.
I can't help but drool over the potential defensive lineup of Smart, Butler, Crowder, Durant and a shot blocker. The athleticism of the lineup, the switching possibilities, the toughness. Fan ****.

We are super lucky that Jimmy's stock dropped a little. The Crowder-Marquette connection could be good, they gotta want to play together. I'll hate loosing Avery, but your package will be about right, maybe even  prospect and KO too..

I think the Durant ship has sailed. We have nothing on this roster to entice him - I rather doubt if he's intrigued at all, and certainly not as much as many of you, by the Legend of Jordan Mickey - and it appears OKC is going to make a serious run at the Spurs.

That's probably a given, although I'll be worried until draft night that Ainge will go stark raving mad and blow the pick on Bender.

I wouldn't mind keeping our pick if it is 1 or 2. I understand, Ingram or Simmons (not sold on a non-shooter on a poor shooting team in a 3pt shoot era), 3 years of parenting, slow but organic approach. Nice and steady. Our original idea, fans original idea.
The idea of trading for Butler is a more immediate solution. It makes us more attractive to other free agents, namely Durant. If it takes our prized BKN pick or 2 to get him, so be it. We are about championships.
If we truly want to get him, we need to do our homework of getting another star.
Remember, KG wouldn't have come if Ray wasn't coming.

BTW, I'm sold on Bender kid, homer pick, can't help myself. When I see a big that can switch and shoot 3s, its good enough for me.
