Anything can happen in this series including the Celtics coming back from this but we all know we're not a contender. Nobody is saying that.
But unless we hit on the lottery do you think it's possible we could have a change in strategy going forward? I'd like is to only acquire and play guys that have trade value whether they stay or not. This Ofcourse would result in many more losses. I'm not saying this because I wish to tank but just to build up our assets like Rozier who Jason my mind shown intriguing tools. I don't think anyone thinks Sullinger, Jerebko, Zeller etc will improve in order to increase their value. Nobody is giving us anything for these guys and I'm hoping we let guys like this go.
Do you guys think Ainge makes these moves because he fears losing Brad if he doesn't make them competitive each year? Would Brad walk if we took a step back in order to move forward in the long term? I know there will be opinions on both sides but I'm curious if anyone feels this way too. All respect to all opinions.I may be in an island on this one. Thanks.

This injury-plagued series shouldn't make us forget about how we played this year and the possibilities of this summer. I suppose there is a chance Danny trades off IT, Crowder, KO and AB for even younger assets, but let's hope he can bring in a couple of 'stars', the team can be healthy, and we can continue to improve.

We have the types of players that shoot-first players would want to play with. Let's just hope Danny can bring in high caliber ones.

I think off season may decide. DA already said this team had big holes going into playoffs. They were getting hammered by teams down the stretch and lost the 3 seed. So how good is this team the next two years while you still have IT cheap? If DA can't trade for a top 15 player or hit big in FA I think he starts looking at moving guys. Mainly IT and AB. They are the teams best players and should have largest returns. C's may just have to build around this year's draft. DA still has plenty of ammo to be a buyer but there are just so few sellers a year. You see probably one top 15 player traded every three years. That doesn't bode well for any team's chances at getting a guy via trade. I would like DA to buy or sell but not continue to sit idle in the middle. You get a real top 15 player in here or you build around the draft. It's nice making the playoffs if you compete not if you get dominated.

No, the Celtics don't need to take a step back in order to move forward. When teams find themselves in that situation, it's usually because they've committed too much cap space to borderline stars + good role players. In contrast, the C's have managed to get all their core players on awesome, below-market-value contracts. You don't sell off contracts like that just to develop a talented but unexceptional guy like Rozier.

Celtics should be buyers this summer.

The fact is, we have the ability to REALLY overpay without giving up most of our best players. I don't know that Danny will show that desperation, but adding a guy like Butler or Cousins would do wonders for our current team and may help lure Durant, Horford, Derozan, or Beal.

It really depends on how soon Danny wants to cash in. We are in one of the most unique positions in the NBA. Other teams like Philly or Minny have amazing chips, but haven't shown they can be competitive. We just finished tied for third in a no-longer-joke-of-a-conference.

We have money for a max free agent and eight draft picks.
We aren't going back.

I think people are misunderstanding me. Ali wish is for a stop to playing guys we know have no trade value like Sullinger, Lee when we had him, Zeller, Jerebko. I'm not talking about trading IT or Bradley. I just want us playing guys who can develop regardless of they are to be keepers or be traded. Riding Sullinger to me is selfish move by the coach. But Danny allowed it. Jerebko, Lee at cost of Rozier, more minutes for Olynyk. This is what I mean.

Danny did it in 07-08 and changed the team.  We do not have a Pierce to build around this time, IT is not close to him, IMO.  PP could score in the clutch, but IT is not a  bad player at all, he is a very good one.  I believe Ainge could change us pretty quick if things go our way and he finds a team that will work with him.
