2012-2013 Celtics Record

After the game tonight I went back to look at past Celtics record to see where this squad matched up with past Celtics teams (namely the tail end of the big 3 era)

I found that in 2012-2013. The Celtics only played 81 games.

Why? I dont remember that being a shortened season or anything but everywhere I look says 41-40.

Anyone know why this is?

Im sure theres an obvious answer but right now I cant think of why we only played 81.

I wanna say it was the marathon bombings. So both the pacers and the Celtics decided to skip the last game. And it had no effect on standings if we had played.

Boston marathon bombings. Pacers/Celtics game was then cancelled.

Canceled the game because of the Marathon bombings.  Had no impact on the playoff race so the NBA decided not to even play it.  It was at the end of the year.
