I'm just waiting for Danny's HOF call.

What criteria must he meet for that? Retire as a GM? Just curious.

As for accomplishments he's done quite a bit....does he need to turn us into contenders AGAIN for HOF call?

He's already got us on the right path.

I posted this article in another thread a couple of years ago. Interesting piece of Celtics history.

I enjoyed watching Ainge the player -- he was solid and feisty. Could shoot, could pass, could handle the ball, and hustled and worked hard. Ainge was a versatile role player -- I think Brad would love to have DA the player. As a 4th/5th guy on a  team, DA was all you could hope for.
As good as he was, Ainge needed the Big 3 and DJ.

Ainge received no HoF consideration nor was his number retired. The other 4 starters from the champ C's teams of the mid-80's are are HoFers with #s hanging from the Garden rafters

Not a HoFer as a player, but looking like a Hall of Fame executive.  I think Ainge will be remembered mostly as a great GM.  He'll eventually get his name or number in the rafters and it will be because of his work as a GM not because of his on-court prowess.

I think the off season of 2007 forever cemented him as being more memorable as GM

It's tough to get remembered as a GM because that work is done away from the cameras. If he builds another championship with entirely different players, though, he'll be remembered as a great GM but a decent-to-good player.

He's certainly as tenacious a GM as he was as a player.

Wayne "Tree" Rollins MUST have been more than 235 pounds (as he's listed on basketball-reference. And he was a 7 footer. I'm guessing that Tree topped out at 260 or so just by looking at him. Tree was also a 2 time All Defensive player AND a tough guy in his own right.

Ainge used his football skills to take the Big Fella's legs from under him, LOL...simply beautiful.

Ainge now uses those skills to take opposing GMs picks from under them.

Definitely depends on your age.  For me, it'll be as a GM.  I knew him from his time on the Suns, but given I didn't watch NBA basketball until 91, and even then only the finals for most of the 90s, he is a GM first to me.  I do have his baseball card, however!
