Dwight really wanted to play for the Nets badly a couple years back, but a trade couldn't be facilitated. Maybe I am worrying over nothing, but I worry the Nets will give him the max this summer (they are the type of team that would) and he will go there - for the Nets they need stars badly and will need to (and will) overpay, and for Dwight, he can be "the man" - and he definitely has a big ego.

This would allow the Nets to cash out Lopez, which according to some rumors they are currently exploring. The good news is that this would likely only have a positive impact on our Nets pick this year... but if this scenario occurs, it really wouldn't help our Brooklyn picks for 2017/2018.

I am only bringing this up because A) I am obsessed with our Nets picks like most of us, and B) people say no stars will want to go to Brooklyn this summer - which for the most part is true - but Dwight is one who actually could, and could maybe even get another fanboy NBA star/fringe star to join him. And while Dwight isn't what he was 5 or 6 years ago, he's still pretty darn good - not max money good, but very few players truly are - no matter what some people say.

Just throwing it out there...

I do think that the Nets will have a shot at signing some B level players this summer. e.g. Jennings, Hibbert etc..

But I don't think Dwight is going there. They're too far away from being a playoff team. they could throw the max at him and maybe they will but I would expect the Mavs to as well and they are a better situation. Or he opts into his player option and cashes in on the higher cap next year

Jeff Teague would be a really good guy for them to target.

Then try to get a solid wing player and a backup center. RHJ returns. Bogdanovic. Three legit wings. Jarrett Jack as backup guard. Larkin as 3rd string. Backup PFs are easy to find. A backup center gives real replacement for Brook Lopez.

That could be a pretty solid team next year. One that compete for .500

I would typically agree that he wouldn't want to go there because they're not a playoff team, but it's NY and he has a big ego... Amare did go to the Knicks when they were awful, afterall, and it attracted another star (Melo) to go there.

I don't think it's necessarily likely he goes to Brooklyn, but it's possible and it's definitely in the back of my mind. He could go there together with another FA to make it more appealing playoff-wise.
