  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
He's been good over the last 10 games.

He seems to be missing a lot of bunnies from close range too, and those will start to drop more consistently as he gets comfortable.

The last month he's looked fantastic to me.

I can't wait for next season after half a season and off season of running pick and roll.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Yeah, he's looked great to me too.  He's been a beast.  And even if he misses on a drive to the hoop he is right there battling or tipping in his own miss... pretty unusual for a guard.  And some of those drives go up like bricks but he has pretty soft touch on them... they might hit the rim a couple times then drop in.  It's all encouraging to me.  The eye test says he is impacting the games more than most players in his draft from Gordon to Payton to Randall.

Some people are mentioning injuries to excuse numbers but, if we are going there, we should consider the injuries for all the players considered.

??

What other players are being considered other than Smart?  He was injured....  Are you saying we should ignore all injuries?  Pretend they don't affect stats?

Let me guess, you were one of those people getting on Rondo after his injury/injuries.

Some injuries bother players more/longer than others.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I'd say it's more relevant to consider that Smart appears injury-prone with his brawny style of play.  If injuries make him play well below his potential, and he tends to get injured a lot, then...it may not be "his fault" but it's still a detriment to how well you'd project him to do.

That said Smart has looked a lot sharper the last few games, and seems to make at least one insane hustle play every time out, but that shot still needs major work.

He's not efficient, except for a few gems now and then. Smart has picked it up recently but I wouldn't be surprised if he goes back to shooting some bad %'s. I don't think there's a problem with that. Young players generally go through bouts of inconsistency before they blossom into all stars (yes, I think Smart has all star potential). From a fantasy standpoint though, his poor %'s have hurt.

I agree completely. I don't think he will ever have a particularly attractive FG%. I think he will be shooting too many threes at an average rate for that. I hope for his total FG% to get above 40% due to drives and post ups. And I'd like his 3 point shooting to stay above 33%.

That's where TS% helps a lot. It shows that he can be just as efficient because he gets FTs and makes 3s.

In the end, I think he will end up playing a lot like a 6'4'' version of Kyle Lowry, although he may play off ball a bit more than Lowry.
