I think Dirk and Pierce went #9 and 10.

Except that we didn't draft Dirk?

I thought foulweatherfan opened it up to all back to back picks but I didn't realize he was joking. I'm gonna go lay down now.

Off of memory I want to say Kedrick Brown and Joe Johnson went 9-10 in the 2001 draft.  Then, we traded away Joe Johnson (when the Sun wanted Kedrick Brown .. doh!) to the Suns for a 2 month rental of Rodney Rogers and a few years of Tony Delk.  What a horrible trade that was.

Now, I'm going to check if I was right.

Hey, hey, go easy on JJ. He's been playing great for us this season!

Mike

LOL. TP.

thank you!  This is the one that was bothering me.  I remember being really excited about Celtics back to back picks but couldn't remember who or when.  It was this draft here with Brown and Johnson.  Wow, how to squander pick 10 and 11, huh?  Pick the wrong guy (Brown), and then trade the wrong pick...

Edit:  wonder who else from that draft taken after pick 11 is still tinkering around in the league...anyone know without checking?  I'm gonna check..I mean, who should we have taken instead of Kedrick?

Recent mocks have us picking at 20 and 21 due to having a similar record to Dallas.

So, when was the last time the Celtics made back to back picks and who did they pick.  Then, I think it happened twice (at least) in the last 12 or so years if I'm not mistaken, but I can't remember.  So here
are my guesses based on sketchy memory.

--TA and Delonte West picked back to back?  What was the trade again that netted those two?

--Sully and Fab Melo picked back to back?

--Joe Forte and ? picked back to back?

--Jajuan Johnson and Sully?

I think I'm missing a very recent example and it's really bothering me that I can't remember!!
the first two you mentioned are the only 2 times I can remember

This was easy b/c of 2 things

1. Fab was terrible and Sully is really solid.
2. Can't imagine b2b picks happen very often.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism

Best I've found so far is Shawn Kemp and our own Dana Barros. The Sonics drafted them 16th and 17th in 1989.

Without looking, I always thought Lindsey Hunter and Alan Houston were a solid back to back by the Pistons. This was a big time for basketball cards so I can pretty much name any NBA player (and when lottery picks were drafted) from '90-'96.

I sure wish those cards would increase in value.

God I miss that 2001 Arizona team.  Him, Gilbert and Jason Gardner were fun to watch.  Was so mad when they lost to Duke.  Wasn't Battier in that draft too?  Thought Duke brought back just Dunleavy, J Will and Booz the next year and that Battier left after 01.
