It will be pretty flipping disappointing if Ainge cannot get someone better than Amir this summer.

It seems highly likely to me that he won't acquire someone better to fill Amir's role for next season.

Yeah (deep sigh), after this thread it is starting to look that way to me too. Unfortunately.

What do you think of Dwight Howard?  I was never really a fan of his goofyness, but maybe has matured a little.  Even though he is playing with Harden we may be able to provide a better situation for him going forward.

Al Hortford would be a nice get but I don't see him leaving Atlanta.

It would be nice to consolidate Amir, Lee, and Zeller to 1 veteran upgrade, and have a new young C as a backup.

I have always liked Dwight Howard.

Worried about his health though. Not sure what to think about him due of that.

I think Dwight is bordering on the "elite role player" stage of his career now, if he isn't already there, but I'm not sure his personality / temperament has really caught up.  His price tag certainly won't reflect that.

Even if Sully's back next year--which I'm certainly not convinced he will be--there should be room to add a young player to the big man rotation.

My preference would be to let Amir and Sully go, and re-sign Zeller to a cheap multi-year deal.

Zeller on a cheap deal (because the Celts have torpedoed his value this season by screwing with his role -- thanks to the awesome David Lee trade) will be a much better trade asset than Amir Johnson on an expiring, especially when you factor in the likelihood of Amir being injured for a significant chunk of next season.

Olynyk, Zeller, Mickey, Jerebko and then maybe a rookie and / or a free agent signing becomes your big man rotation.  I could take or leave Jerebko, but he can play multiple positions / roles and he's cheap.

The Celts don't really need to have too many big men on the team, because the team is at its best going small.  On a lot of nights they won't be able to have more than one of them on the floor for any extended period of time anyway.

I'd much rather keep Amir than re-sign Zeller.  Tyler's a decent athlete who runs well and can hit a jumper, but he's a poor defender who isn't skilled enough offensively to make up for it.

I don't hate him as a bench guy, but personally I don't think there's any amount of minutes that are going to convince anyone Tyler's a high value asset.

I don't know what Amir Johnson's trade value is, but I know he has value on the court.  I would like to see him stick around for that on court value (unless of course we can upgrade his position--then I'd be fine with letting him find another home).
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

Thing with Dwight Howard is that his price tag will be around $30 million. Hard to fathom going that high for him at this point, even though i still believe in his talent, but someone will certainly go for it. I'm quite averse at going that high for him.

I voted to keep him. His contract is a good trade chip, and he's not a bum. The only time I wouldn't keep him is if we've got some sort of inside track on a hot free agent. But honestly, Amir is a pretty solid big who can sop up minutes.

his contract isnt that bad
plus he gives our frontcourt rotation much needed defense presence
so even if we didnt want him - we could still trade him
