Anthony Davis.
TP. I like that idea. Maybe we can do that AND pry KAT away from minny. Front court of the future right there.
A few years ago people would have laughed at this statement....except it is so true it hurts. The one draft we needed to actually be in "play" and we make the playoffs and get swept......It's Ainge's fault.
Getting thomas was a shrwed move by Danny. We would not have a top pick. All the team in there did not have our slot. Those playoff games we learned and will grow from it. Cousins will not go at the deadline. There owner wants the playoffs. Maybe next year they blow it up at trade deadline. If Rondo signs back with Sac. I think cousins stays and Rondo may only stay there is they say they are keeping Cousins. NY and Brooklyn both will be point guard hungry this summer. Conley will be the only one else out there. Howard is our best option at getting a big man with a sign and trade so he gets the 5th year.
I don't know why you would clump me in this "bubble" . The IT trade was and is great. But I can still point out faults that Danny made, coincidentally the faults were during the same time we got IT at the deadline.
I should just make this my sig or something. But after Ainge got IT he should have waived Bass, Jonas, and Gigi. Stevens would have understood IMO because Ainge got him a legit player that is on a greaaaaat contract. However, the other players I mentioned were not in our future and were doing 3 major things:
1)Padding our regular season wins
2) Made it almost impossible to develop players
3)clogged our roster. So we could not take a risk on a prospect
How can we blame the players or Stevens for winning (even in a lousy conferance w/ many star injuries) and making the playoffs. I do not blame any of them or Stevens, what is the logic in that. But I do blame Ainge for holding on to players he should have traded or at worst waived if there were no biters.
3 losses would have made a huge dif for this franchise on draft night. Most people said it would not matter 9-16 was all the same. But Ainge should have known better and done a better job.
Offering 6 picks for a player we could have drafted ourselves is not logical. Had we let go the players I mentioned we would have had the 10th pick at worst and maybe even a better pick. And then there is the possibility for getting in the top 3.
Let's say we drafted Myles Turner....he would be a nice asset to package for a star. He also could be a star. He is cut from the same cloth as Towns and KP although not as successful yet. Maybe when he gets better rehab and his hip/glute problem is taken care of, we could be looking at a very athletic and skilled player. He is also a player that would work great in our system.
IT did not single handily get us to the playoffs. Bass did a great job and stepped in for Sully like no one else could. Gigi and Jonas had a few games in which they went off from 3. Also, ET was a great guy for us during that season.
Maybe if Ainge knew just how good of a coach CBS is and did not underestimate the East and how bad it was, I think ET would have been traded for a future pick.
