Might be time to trade Amir as well, as he was virtually NONEXISTENT tonight!!!!  I think he will be limited by his feet and ankles problems for the rest of his career, which is very sad!!  I simply cannot see any reason pay Amir $12 million next year!!!  NONE!!!

yeah . some of these guys are playing through injuries.  Amir and Sully definitely.

They lack that "zip" right now.  Lee is not the best either, but he plays with good energy.

Coach Stevens is amazing but I do think it is very, very difficult for young players to gain his trust. His focus is on winning every game and he doesn't seem to have any interest in giving the rookies minutes unless he sees in practice that they're actually better than the guy they're replacing in the rotation.

I understand where he's coming from, but it's becoming very frustrating in the context of Rozier and Mickey.

Funny someone brought up in a different thread tonight if Ben Simmons would be a good hypothetical 5 in small-ball. I think Mickey would be an ideal 5 in the small-ball situations in the near future with Simmons at the 4, but that's thinking ahead and that's if Simmons comes here, which is still a possibility. Anyway, Mickey will be play in due time when Brad thinks he's ready.

That's frankly nonsense.  Marcus Smart earned his trust by the second game last season.  Phil Pressey was his binkie at times.  Hunter's gotten some good time in the rotation when healthy.  Olynyk played his rookie year a lot -- foul trouble was the only reason he didn't play more.  James Young just flat out wasn't ready.  Rozier hasn't looked capable of running the offense when he's been in there, unfortunately, and that's what they need him to do.  The Celtics have 6-7 people ahead of Mickey in the rotation.  There's no reason at all for Mickey to see court time, or even be active most days.

It's not Stevens job just to play rookies (which he does, when appropriate).  It's his job to coach all 15 guys, and if Terry Rozier and Jordan Mickey are given real minutes just because he's curious to see if they magically develop better skills in real games compared to practice, he's going to lose the other 12-13 players on the roster very quickly.  If this team had eyes on the lottery, and most of the players weren't going to be back next year aside from the rookies, it might be different.  But that, thankfully, is not this team's current lot in life.

I'm sure Popavich doesn't know what he's doing either because Kyle Anderson doesn't get much run.

Josh Selby was summer league co-MVP with Lillard in 2012.  That is about how much stock I put into Mickey"s summer league play.

Mickey was reported to be injured coming to this game, along with Rozier.

Injured from sitting for too long on the bench?

LOL. Don't ask me. Ask the reporter in the pre-game coverage.

Agree, play Mickey, this team needs some interior defense in the worst way. It's the place everyone attacks us. Other than Amir, who disappears for games at a time, we're loaded with bigs that are rooted to the floor, slow footed, or have no lateral quickness.

I just can't understand why he doesn't at least get some minutes. Why not...Stevens plays everyone and anyone anyway.

This will happen as long as we play Sullinger, it is the price you pay for all those rebounds.

good post SL. you stated my viewpoint better than i would have. about the only thing i would add would be the ever-necessary call for patience. to many on this board rookies tend to look great before they have proven much. oh, and a tp of course and as usual.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Rozier got a reasonable amount of burn and has crapped the bed consistently so far. Not particularly fair to lump him together with Mickey.

Brad S, from the CB article:
Quote
"I’m really curious, but we do have a [frontcourt] logjam,"
I'm guessing Brad S is comfortable with the level of production he's getting from Lee, Zeller, and Jerebko. Another testament of his supreme coaching  acumen.

... by the way, did we mention that Mickey is averaging 5 blocks in the DL?
